Man breaks into ex-lover's house at night, kidnaps stepchild to force her to rekindle old love
To threaten and force his lover to return to him, Nguyen Khac Nhat broke into his lover's house, used tape to tie his hands and feet, gagged him, and stole the phone of his lover's mother, Ms. N., and kidnapped his lover's stepchild as a hostage. On his way to escape to the southern provinces, Nguyen Khac Nhat was arrested by the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police.
On June 27, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police is temporarily detaining Nguyen Khac Nhat (born in 1990), residing in Nam Dan town, Nam Dan district, to investigate the acts of "Robbery" and "Hostage taking".

Accordingly, Nguyen Khac Nhat had a love affair with a woman in Thanh Chuong district. Due to conflicts, in early May 2025, the woman proactively broke up with Nhat. Nguyen Khac Nhat tried to contact the woman many times but failed. Angry, Nhat came up with the idea of kidnapping the woman's stepchild with the purpose of controlling and forcing his lover to return to him.
At around 10:30 p.m. on June 23, 2025, Nguyen Khac Nhat prepared tape and a few other items, then climbed over the wall and broke into his lover's house in Thanh Chuong district.
Discovering his lover's biological mother and 3-year-old stepchild sleeping; at that time, Nhat's lover was working as a factory worker and was not at home, Nhat used tape to tie his lover's hands, feet, and gag his lover's mother, N., stole a cell phone, and kidnapped his lover's stepchild.
After committing the act, Nhat used his phone to record a video and send it to the woman, threatening and demanding that the victim follow him or else he would threaten the life of his lover's stepchild. Fearing that her loved one's life would be affected, the woman complied with the subject's request.
Immediately after receiving the report, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Police deployed many working groups to verify and arrest the subject that night. At about 4:00 a.m. on June 24, 2025, in Ha Tinh City, Ha Tinh Province, while using a motorbike to transport the woman and the victim's biological child to escape, Nguyen Khac Nhat was arrested by the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police in coordination with functional forces and the masses.
The seized evidence included 1 knife, 4 packages of pesticides, 3 mobile phones, 1 motorbike and related evidence. Nguyen Khac Nhat has 2 previous convictions and has just been released from prison for theft of property. During his escape, to deal with the police, Nhat threw 2 mobile phones of his lover's mother and lover on the street.
Currently, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police is consolidating the case file to prosecute Nguyen Khac Nhat for the crimes of "Robbery" and "Hostage taking" in accordance with the law.
