Drug dealer welder 'profits' 20 years in prison

Nghe An Provincial People's Court has just opened a first-instance criminal trial to try defendant Ha Van Dai (born 1979), residing in Kim Khe village, Chau Kim commune, Que Phong district, for the crime of“Illegal drug trafficking”.

The case file shows that in early 2020, Dai went to work as a welder in Vi Xuyen district (Ha Giang province). While working there, Dai saw many drug addicts, so he went to Que Phong district to buy heroin with the intention of reselling it for profit.

At around 10am on July 31, Dai walked from his home to the mountainous area of ​​Chau Kim commune to buy drugs and met four Mong men. Dai asked to buy 1 heroin cake, and one of the men agreed and agreed on a price of 80 million VND. About 10 minutes later, this man returned and gave Dai 1 heroin cake and received the money.

After buying the drugs, Ha Van Dai brought them home and hid them in his garden. That same evening, Dai put the drugs in his bag and took a bus to Vi Xuyen district. At around 9 p.m., when Dai was on the bus going to Truong Banh intersection, Tien Phong commune, he was stopped by a working group of the agency.Que Phong District Policediscovered and caught red-handed. The seized evidence was 1 heroin cake.

At the trial, the defendant Dai admitted all his crimes. The defendant expressed remorse and asked for a reduced sentence.

After a comprehensive review of the case, the People's Court sentenced Ha Van Dai to 20 years in prison for "Illegal drug trafficking".
