Vinh Railway Station ensures security and order during the Lunar New Year holiday.

(Baonghean.vn) - During the Lunar New Year holiday, in addition to the 26 North-South trains passing through Vinh Station each day, there will be two more pairs of trains (SE11, 15 and SE12, 16) running on the Vinh - Saigon route (SE11, 15 depart from Vinh Station and SE12, 16 depart from Saigon Station). These trains will operate from January 28th (December 17th of the Lunar Calendar) to February 26th (January 17th of the Lunar Calendar). During the Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake) passenger transport campaign, security forces at Vinh Station were reinforced and operated 24/7. Mr. Hoang Van Tue, team leader of the Vinh Station's national defense and security team, stated: “The peak times before Tet are from 5:00 AM to 6:30 AM and from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM on the days from December 24th to 29th (Lunar Calendar), when trains from Hanoi to Saigon converge at Vinh Station, and also when passengers board trains SE 11 and 12. Therefore, the national defense and security team concentrates its forces to ensure security and order for passengers boarding and alighting at Vinh Station. Currently, ticket touts and a large number of unlicensed motorbike taxis and regular taxis are operating at the Vinh Station gate, causing traffic congestion and disrupting public order. The team has coordinated with relevant authorities to promptly address this issue.”

During the Lunar New Year holiday, Vinh Railway Station coordinated with local authorities, especially the police, traffic inspectors, market management, and forest rangers, to strengthen patrols and controls to ensure security, fire safety, passenger safety, and cargo safety. Vinh Railway Station and other railway units in the area coordinated well in sharing information related to security and order. They promptly informed and reported the security situation to relevant agencies for effective handling of incidents. They also promoted public awareness campaigns to encourage passengers to comply with railway traffic laws.

Mr. Tran Viet Dung, Deputy Head of Vinh Railway Station, said: “In the past period, thanks to the timely attention and support of functional agencies and the efforts of Vinh Railway Station, security and order have been stable. Several functional agencies have effectively coordinated with Vinh Railway Station, such as the Police force which promptly resolved incidents occurring in the area, and the Forest Protection and Market Management forces which effectively carried out the work of combating smuggling, transporting wildlife, prohibited goods, and contraband on trains. Especially in the period before the Lunar New Year, Vinh Railway Station proactively coordinated with functional agencies to effectively combat smuggling, illegal transportation of goods, and ensure security and order in the area.”

One highly effective method for ensuring security and order at Vinh Station, and one that passengers appreciate, is the efficient dissemination of information through the station's public address system. During this Tet holiday, in addition to reminding passengers to comply with the railway regulations, Vinh Station also provided passengers with more information about train schedules, advised against buying tickets from unofficial sources to avoid counterfeit or altered tickets, encouraged vigilance in protecting passengers' belongings, and provided information on taxi companies and bus/coach pick-up points. It is known that during Tet, the leaders of Vinh Station and various organizations formed delegations to encourage, visit, and give gifts to staff on duty during Tet, as well as passengers boarding trains on New Year's Eve. After the Lunar New Year, from the 6th to the 12th day of the Lunar calendar, Vinh Station will experience a large influx of train passengers, so security and order plans have been put in place.
