Nearly 1,000 students participate in Nghe An Open Math Festival 2023

Morning of April 23, atPhan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, University of Science and TechnologyHowever - Hanoi National University and the Department of Education and Training organized Nghe An Open Math Day 2023.

This is the first time the program has been held in Nghe An with the participation of nearly 1,000 teachers from many high schools across the province.

The 9th Math Open Day (MOD 2023) with the theme Mathematics for Everyone, is one of the official activities of the International Day of Mathematics initiated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), organized by many schools, institutes and units worldwide.

The festival is a series of open activities about Mathematics and STEM in general, aiming to create opportunities for a large number of students, teachers, parents, mathematicians and educators to discuss current topics in mathematics and mathematics education, experience and enjoy the beauty of Mathematics and learn about the colorful applications of mathematics in science and life.

The program is organized in 2 parts, including experiential activities and career orientation, and participants will directly interact with Mathematics and Science through games and practical experiments; introducing career orientations in the fields of Mathematics and Science.

Another content is listening to mathematics lectures presented by lecturers from the University of Science – Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The lectures are designed for high school students, students of mathematics-related majors and general teachers.

Speaking at the program, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Vo Van Mai affirmed that this is a very meaningful event for students of the province. Especially when currently, popularizing the application of mathematics to life is one of the important contents of the National Key Program for Mathematics Development in the period 2021 - 2030, the program will satisfy everyone's need to seek knowledge.

Previously, the Open Mathematics Festival was first held in Hanoi in 2015, then expanded to provinces and cities across the country such as Ho Chi Minh City, Quy Nhon, Can Tho, Da Nang, Hue, Dong Thap, Dong Nai... From 2020, under the professional sponsorship of the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, the festival's organizational model was transferred to localities./.
