Nearly 10,000 war veterans in Yen Thanh donated land for the construction of new rural areas.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 3rd, the Veterans Association of Yen Thanh district organized a seminar to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Veterans Association (December 6th, 1989 - December 6th, 2015).

The District Veterans Association currently has over 14,000 members, operating in 508 branches across 49 grassroots organizations. The various levels of the association have developed 135 exemplary economic models; over 1,100 households have been recognized as excellent producers and business owners; the percentage of well-off and wealthy households among members has reached over 71%, while the percentage of poor households has decreased to only 2.52%.

In particular, in response to the emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans Joining Hands to Build New Rural Areas," over 9,800 veteran households across the association donated land, totaling nearly 918,000 square meters.², demolition of over 2,500m²²The project involved building a fence, mobilizing over 34,000 man-days of labor and many other assets, totaling nearly 19 billion VND.

On this occasion, 35 collectives and 36 individuals were awarded certificates of merit as "Exemplary Veterans of 2015" by the People's Committee of Yen Thanh District, the Veterans Association of Nghe An Province, and the Veterans Association of Yen Thanh District.
