129 bridges were newly built, upgraded and renovated to ensure the safety of trains traveling from North to South.

On the morning of May 8, at Ong Ngo railway bridge (Dien Hoa commune, Dien Ban town), the Ministry of Transport launched the XL-CY-01 bidding package to upgrade and repair 6 weak bridges on the railway route passing through Quang Nam province and Da Nang city. The construction period is about 8 months with a total contract value of 82 billion VND.

This is the first bid package of the project to renovate and upgrade weak bridges and reinforce anti-collision pillars on the North-South railway line (project), with a total investment of 1,949 billion VND, implemented by the Ministry of Transport from now until 2021. Of which, 111 bridges will be newly built and renovated, 4 bridges will be built anti-collision pillars, and 14 bridges will be repaired and upgraded.

The project is being implemented along the entire railway line with a length of more than 1,000 km.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dong - Deputy Minister of Transport, requested units to choose the contractor that best undertakes the job, because in reality, there are few investment projects in the railway industry, so there are not many contractors with experience in this field.

According to the leader of the Ministry of Transport, the project will help improve the railway infrastructure system, increase train speed and ensure safety. Currently, many trains can only run at 20-30 km/h over weak bridges. After the bridge is upgraded, trains can run at 50-60 km/h.
