(Baonghean.vn) - The contest is a practical activity to celebrate Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day (April 19).

On the afternoon of April 15, in Quy Hop district, the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An coordinated with the People's Committee of Quy Hop district to organize the opening ceremony of the 2023 Nghe An Province Ethnic Minority Sports Festival. This is a program to celebrate the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day on April 19.

The competition has the participation of nearly 200 athletes from 11 delegations (Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Thanh Chuong, Tan Ky, Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Nghia Dan, Thai Hoa town and some mountainous communes of Quynh Luu district). The competition takes place over 3 days (April 14-16, 2023). Athletes compete in 5 events for both men and women, including: Volleyball, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, shuttlecock throwing, tug of war.

Through the competition, the aim is to preserve and promote the cultural identity of ethnic minorities; strengthen solidarity and cohesion among ethnic communities in the whole province. This is also an opportunity to improve the quality of the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", and at the same time select outstanding athletes to participate in sports tournaments and sports competitions for ethnic minorities nationwide in 2023 and the following years./.
