Nearly 21,000 cars expired from January 1, 2016
Of the total 20,994 cars that expired on January 1, 2016, there were 2,061 passenger cars and 18,933 cargo cars.
According to data from the Vietnam Register, from January 1, 2016, nationwide there will be a total of 20,994 cars that have expired their usage period, of which 2,061 are passenger cars and 18,933 are cargo cars.
The Vietnam Register has now published a list of motor vehicles that have expired or will expire from January 1, 2016 on the Department's website at www.vr.org.vn in the sections "Vehicles with expired registration" and "Vehicles about to expire registration" to serve the lookup of authorities and the public.

According to Decree 95 dated October 30, 2009 of the Government "Regulations on the term of use for cargo and passenger cars", the term of use for cargo cars is no more than 25 years; for passenger cars is no more than 20 years; for cars converted from other types of vehicles to passenger cars before January 1, 2002 is no more than 17 years.
Circular No. 56 dated December 27, 2012 of the Ministry of Transport also stipulates that every August, the Vietnam Register will report to the Ministry of Transport and widely announce the list of vehicles that will expire from January 1 of the following year.
According to the Vietnam Register, the Department has currently requested that motor vehicle inspection centers nationwide provide data to the Traffic Police Department, Department of Transport, and local Transport Inspectorates, and proactively coordinate with patrol forces to conduct inter-sectoral inspections to control on the road, and handle according to the provisions of Decree 171 of the Government for vehicle owners and users of vehicles that have expired their participation in traffic./.
