This year's meeting was quite absent from the Tay Tien soldiers of the past, but still had the presence of more than 100 elders and their relatives. This year's meeting also had the presence of leaders of Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Son La provinces and Colonel Phim Ma Chan Vong Pan Nha, military attaché of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam.
After the flag-raising ceremony and the minute of silence for the heroic martyrs and General Vo Nguyen Giap, Colonel Hoang Sam, on behalf of the Liaison Committee, read the report on the activities of the Tay Tien Veterans Association. Despite their old age and weak health, the Tay Tien veterans organized many rich activities, which had the effect of educating the younger generation on tradition, such as donating to support Tay Tien Primary School in Sai Khao commune, Muong Lat district, Thanh Hoa province; organizing activities to visit sick members.
In addition, the Association also coordinated with local departments and branches to upgrade the Chau Trang Martyrs Monument in Hoa Binh province, and proposed to build a Tay Tien Soldiers Memorial in Moc Chau, Son La province. At the same time, the Association still maintains close ties with Laos, especially Sam Neua town, Hua Phan province.
Although the members of the Tay Tien Veterans Association are all over 90 years old, the Tay Tien spirit is still promoted with many activities continuing in 2014 such as contributing to the construction of the 52nd Tay Tien Regiment Memorial Site in Moc Chau, Son La province and organizing trips to the roots in localities associated with the Tay Tien army. At the first meeting of the year of the Horse this year, the Tay Tien Veterans Association organized a longevity celebration for the Tay Tien soldiers and some of their children to promote the Tay Tien spirit for future generations.
