Meeting with generals and heroes of Nghe An homeland in Hanoi
On the morning of December 15, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the Nghe An Association in Hanoi organized a meeting with generals and heroes of Nghe An.
Attending the meeting were comrades: Nguyen Sinh Hung - former member of the Politburo, former Chairman of the National Assembly; Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Thuoc - Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Commander of Military Region 4; Truong Dinh Tuyen - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister of Trade, former Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; Le Doan Hop - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Minister of Information and Communications, former Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Nghe An Association in Hanoi; Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and more than 50 generals and heroes who are sons of Nghe An.
Connecting love for homeland


At the meeting, Lieutenant General Nguyen Manh Dau - former Political Commissar of the General Department of Engineering, Ministry of National Defense, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Association in Hanoi reviewed the process of building, growing, fighting and winning, the heroic tradition, and glorious career of the Vietnam People's Army.
Over the past 80 years, the Vietnam People's Army has promoted the tradition of patriotism and revolutionary heroism, successfully completed all tasks assigned by the Party, State and People, created a heroic tradition and glorious career; and has been trusted and protected by the People, and awarded the noble title "Uncle Ho's Soldiers".

After 35 years of implementing the National Defense Day, the People's Army plays a core role, closely coordinating with the People's Public Security, with all levels, sectors and localities to achieve important achievements in building both forces and positions; building potential in all aspects, especially political and spiritual potential; building the great national unity bloc, building a strong political system, creating a combined strength to protect the Fatherland.
The Vice President of the Nghe An Association in Hanoi also reviewed the historical and revolutionary traditions of Nghe An province, especially the traditions of Nghe An province's armed forces with many shining examples of patriots, revolutionary heroes, and generals through many generations.

According to statistics, the total number of Nghe An people participating in the army over the periods was nearly 600,000 people; participating in the youth volunteer force was 45,000 people; participating in the frontline citizens was 160,000 people.
During the resistance wars to protect the Fatherland, Nghe An province had 45,000 martyrs; 56,000 wounded soldiers; 2,885 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; 75 Armed Forces Heroes; 6,000 veteran revolutionary cadres and pre-uprising cadres; more than 130 general officers in the army and police.


At the meeting, Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Thuoc, Major General Cao Tien Phiem, Labor Hero Nguyen Dang Giap, Labor Hero Thai Huong... spoke, shared, and recalled their memories of fighting and contributing; at the same time, affirmed the role and value of the homeland to the children of Nghe An and emphasized the responsibility of the children of Nghe An to their homeland.
Continue to strive to be worthy of previous generations.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his excitement, emotion and pride at attending the meeting with generals and heroes of Nghe An hometown in Hanoi.

Emphasizing that the revolutionary historical tradition, the spiritual land and the talented people of Nghe An are very proud, through listening to the exchange and reviewing the traditions of the army and the homeland, the Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee felt proud of the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the heroic army of a heroic nation. Contributing to that heroic tradition are the children of Nghe An homeland, including the generals and heroes attending today's meeting.
From the pre-revolutionary period, with the spirit of the Nghe Tinh Soviet "standing up first", contributing to the victory of the August Revolution. During the resistance war against the French, Nghe An was a great rear base, providing manpower and resources to the frontline with the spirit of "not a pound of rice missing, not a soldier missing", contributing to the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory.

During the resistance war against the US, with the spirit of "going to the battlefield without regretting one's youth", "not leaving a car behind, not leaving a house behind", the army and people of Nghe An together with the nation achieved the victory of the Great Spring Victory in 1975, completely liberating the South and unifying the country.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his respect, gratitude and thanks for the contributions and dedication of previous generations, including generals and heroes from Nghe An, who have created the foundation for the development of Nghe An province in the current period.

Sharing information on the province's socio-economic development in recent times, the Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that despite many difficulties, thanks to solidarity, unity, consensus and efforts, Nghe An has achieved positive results, especially in terms of growth rate, budget revenue, FDI attraction and social security.
In 2024, the province organized and completed key tasks and key projects; the Central Government issued mechanisms and policies to create resources and motivation for the province's development in the coming time. In particular, the Nghe An Provincial Armed Forces were awarded the title of Hero of the Vietnam People's Armed Forces for the second time.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that in that result, there are positive contributions from organizations, businesses and individuals who are children of Nghe An for their homeland; at the same time, he hoped that previous generations would continue to support the province to strive to develop, worthy of being the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh.
In 2025, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that the province aims to accelerate and make breakthroughs to achieve the highest level of goals and targets set by the 19th Provincial Party Congress, striving for double-digit growth; striving to continue to maintain positive results and position in budget collection, investment attraction, and completion of key projects and works.

In addition, Nghe An will make careful and optimal preparations to successfully organize Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 20th Provincial Party Congress and the 14th National Party Congress with the spirit of the heroic Soviet homeland. Nghe An will be one of the provinces that contributes responsibly and actively to the new development stage of the country, the era of national growth.
Nghe An is focusing on effectively implementing the revolution of streamlining the organization and political system of the province with the highest spirit, determination and greatest effort. On that basis, it will create new momentum and new spirit for the development of the province in the coming period.

Speaking at the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Nghe An Association in Hanoi Le Doan Hop said that in Hanoi there are 62 generals and heroes from Nghe An, including 9 Lieutenant Generals, 46 Major Generals, 5 Armed Forces Heroes and 2 Labor Heroes.
The meeting was an occasion to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, associated with the contributions of Nghe An soldiers in the resistance wars. This was also an occasion to honor those who contributed to Nghe An in the great wars of national defense.

"Although we possess all the modest qualities of a soldier, we have the right to put our hands on our chests and say that we are the golden generation of the heroic Vietnam People's Army, the golden generation of the heroic Vietnamese nation and the golden generation of our beloved homeland Nghe An," affirmed Le Doan Hop, Chairman of the Nghe An Association in Hanoi.
