In the warm atmosphere of comradeship, the former youth volunteers sang songs about Uncle Ho, the Party and Truong Son; recalled the heroic memories of their youth and told each other about their efforts to rise up in life. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, 601 Youth Volunteers participated in serving on the route named after Uncle Ho. In the fierceness of the war, many Nghe An Youth Volunteers heroically sacrificed themselves, were infected with Agent Orange or left part of their bodies in Truong Son.
With the revolutionary spirit, determined to die for the country, Nghe An Youth Volunteers overcame the dangers of bombs and bullets, making many contributions to ensuring the Ho Chi Minh Trail to ensure the transportation of logistics goods and weapons to the front line. With their contributions on the Truong Son Trail, many Youth Volunteers were awarded by the Party and the State.

After the war ended, the majority of former Youth Volunteers returned to normal life but still maintained the will of those who contributed to the victory in the resistance war against the US, striving tirelessly to take care of their family life, and making certain contributions to society. At the same time, they encouraged and helped their comrades in difficulty...

In 2009, the Traditional Liaison Committee of Former Youth Volunteers of Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh Trail 559 was established as the wish of many former Youth Volunteers of Truong Son. After 4 years of operation, despite many difficulties, it has received the attention of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, and socio-political organizations. The Liaison Committee has carried out practical activities such as helping comrades to eliminate temporary housing; providing financial support for old and weak comrades in difficult circumstances... Thereby, gathering a large number of former Youth Volunteers of Truong Son to participate in activities, determined to live a life worthy of their comrades who sacrificed, preserving the image of the Youth Volunteers on the road named after Uncle Ho.
