In a warm atmosphere of camaraderie, the former Youth Volunteers sang songs about Uncle Ho, the Party, and the Truong Son Mountains; reminiscing about their heroic youth and sharing stories of their struggles in life. During the war against the US, 601 Youth Volunteers served on the road named after Uncle Ho. In the fierce fighting, many Youth Volunteers from Nghe An bravely sacrificed their lives, were exposed to Agent Orange, or lost parts of their bodies in the Truong Son Mountains.

With revolutionary spirit and a determination to fight to the death for the nation, the Nghe An Youth Volunteers overcame the dangers of bombing and shelling, making significant contributions to ensuring the smooth flow of supplies and weapons to the front lines along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. For their contributions on the Truong Son Trail, many Youth Volunteers were awarded by the Party and the State.

Over four years of operation, despite many difficulties, the committee has received attention from the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and various socio-political organizations. The committee has carried out practical activities such as helping comrades replace dilapidated housing; providing financial assistance to elderly and frail comrades in difficult circumstances... Through these efforts, the committee has gathered a large number of former Truong Son Youth Volunteers to participate in activities, determined to live up to the sacrifices of their comrades and uphold the image of the Youth Volunteers on the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
