Meeting to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the founding of Division 337 (July 1978 - July 2014)
(Baonghean.vn) - On July 25, in Vinh City, Division 337 held a meeting to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the division's departure to fight to protect the border in February 1979 and the 36th anniversary of the Division's founding (July 28, 1978 - July 28, 2014). Attending the meeting was Major General Nguyen Sy Hoi - Deputy Commander of Military Region IV.
36 years ago, on July 28, 1978, at Coi market, Hung Loc commune, Vinh city, according to the decision of the Ministry of National Defense, Division 337 was established. Division 337 is the predecessor of the National Defense Economic Group. During the process of building and training, the Division carried out the following tasks: Preparing for international missions to help Laos, fighting to protect the border in Lang Son, adjusting forces, and doing national defense economics. Especially, during the Southwestern border war, during 15 years of fighting and building in Lang Son, Division 337 was honored by the Party Committee, government and people of Lang Son with the name "Khanh Khe Group", as a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism. On December 31, 1994, according to the decision of the Ministry of National Defense, Division 337 returned to Military Region 4, transformed into the 337 National Defense Economic Group.

The meeting was an opportunity for officers and soldiers of Division 337 to meet their comrades, review the tradition of the division's process of building and defending the Fatherland, and inspire the younger generations about the tradition of heroic struggle to defend the Fatherland of previous generations. At the same time, this was an opportunity to pay tribute to and honor more than 400 martyrs of the division, most of whom were children from Nghe An and Ha Tinh who heroically sacrificed their lives in the border war in February 1979.
Also at the meeting of war veterans of all periods, Division 337 donated 5 million VND to support the sea and island program.
