Get rid of greed to have clean agricultural products
To have clean agricultural products that meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards to serve consumers is not difficult, but the prerequisite is that producers and traders must accept to put aside greed and not focus on profits.
Making clean agricultural products is not difficult.
“Dirty” agricultural products often do not cause immediate harm to the health of consumers, so the general mentality is still indifferent and takes them lightly. That is the main reason why “dirty” agricultural products still exist, even “live well” and show no signs of “failing”.

» Lam Dong will support Nghe An to develop high-tech agriculture
According to Mr. Le Van Cuong, Director of Da Lat GAP Company (Da Lat City, Lam Dong), producing clean agricultural products is not difficult. The important thing is whether producers and traders can control their greed for profit to set the goal of bringing clean agricultural products to consumers.
Economically, agricultural production using biological and organic methods costs 3-4 times more. Clean agricultural products brought to the market are often fresh, soft, sweet, etc. While using chemical methods, although the yield is very high and the profit is high, the quality is not good, pesticide residues, and the impact on consumers' health is undeniable.

Currently, some large-scale clean agricultural enterprises in Da Lat have successfully built the Global GAP standard (full name is Global Good Agricultural Practice), which is a positive sign. Along with that, consumers have become aware of protecting their health and that of their families by using clean agricultural products with clear origins.
Since 1998, in Da Lat, there has been a company that has built a quality management system according to the international standard Global GAP, this is also the first unit in Vietnam to apply this standard. To have truly fresh, quality, safe products, all vegetables of companies certified to meet Global GAP standards are produced using advanced technology, with advice from experts. |
Agricultural production is carried out in greenhouses to prevent insects and diseases, and to minimize external impacts. They have had to establish a strict and continuous food safety inspection and monitoring system, starting from the preparation of the farm to the harvesting, processing and transportation to consumption.
Protect yourself, then the community
Mr. Nguyen Cong Thua, Director of Anh Dao Da Lat General Agricultural Service Cooperative, said that most of the high-tech vegetable production facilities in Da Lat have signed long-term contracts to supply agricultural products to stable and reputable consumers. Their biggest concern is that agricultural products from China are flooding the Vietnamese market, causing Vietnamese agricultural products to have times when no one buys them and no one takes them.
More dangerously, Chinese agricultural products often appear fresh and delicious due to the use of many chemicals and preservatives, so many consumers in Vietnam, out of greed for profit, have introduced them as high-quality agricultural products from Da Lat. This has caused consumers to be deceived, buying expensive products with “dirty” quality. The above fraudulent behavior has tarnished the brand of clean vegetables from Da Lat.
Meanwhile, according to Mr. Lai The Hung, Head of the Lam Dong Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, consumers cannot distinguish between clean and dirty agricultural products with the naked eye. Mr. Hung advises consumers to choose to buy clean agricultural products at supermarkets and reputable points of sale with clearly listed origins.

Currently, most establishments in Da Lat only produce clean agricultural products, many of which are reputable and branded with the label "Da Lat agricultural products".
“In Da Lat, there are even businesses that have committed to compensate and reward customers who discover that their agricultural products do not meet Global GAP standards. Thus, the production of clean agricultural products is increasingly focused on,” said Mr. Hung.
In recent years, Da Lat vegetables have reached many demanding markets in Europe, Korea, Japan, etc., which shows that a high-end agricultural sector to serve consumers is present. However, to prevent the Da Lat clean vegetable brand from being tarnished by Chinese goods and poor quality agricultural products right at home is a difficult problem that state management agencies have so far struggled to find a solution. |
