Brigade 127, Naval Region 5 has just organized a live-fire test at sea for the artillery force, including a night target attack.

Joint exercise

According to the Navy newspaper, the live-fire practice session was held at the Hon Anh Dong National Shooting Range, Phu Quoc, Kien Giang. Participating in the live-fire test were combat ship squadrons of Squadron 512. The shooting test included two exercises: Shooting at moving targets at night and shooting at low-flying aircraft during the day.

Although the exercise was conducted in rainy and stormy conditions, with a proactive spirit, high determination, and strict and serious training, the unit's shooting test results were classified as good and ensured absolute safety for people and equipment.

The objective of the live-fire exercise is to test the level of command and organization of the ship's crew in using weapons; to test the level of combat readiness and ship control; to test and evaluate the results of combat coordination training...

It is known that before this exercise took place, the 147th Marine Brigade also conducted a combined round of live-fire drills with the coordination of landing ship and artillery ship forces of Brigade 125 and Brigade 170.

This is an important activity for Brigade 147 to improve its combat capabilities to match the actual combat situation on the islands and seas, in accordance with the weapons currently in service, and to enhance combat coordination with other forces.

The Marine Corps and armored vehicles of the 147th Brigade were transported in landing ships protected by artillery squadrons. The flotilla sailed at sea under adverse weather conditions of heavy rain and big waves.

However, the fleet secretly approached the combat location according to the drill script and the specified time. The armored tank formation swam to the shore while attacking the enemy forces stationed in the rugged mountainous terrain.

Maneuvering at sea without cover and concealment, tanks and armored vehicles moving in formation and opening fire according to tactical intentions is an important training content.

"Regarding the use of firepower, when ordered by superiors, the vehicles will distribute ammunition at different distances to ensure the fastest destruction of the enemy," said Lieutenant Truong Quoc Dong, Marine Brigade 147, Naval Region 1.

The combat forces destroyed the enemy in the depth of defense to ensure control of the battlefield. This was also an opportunity for the 147th Marine Brigade to test the troops' live-fire skills against many types of firepower from artillery to mortars and personal weapons.

Equipment power

During the exercises, the role of the Svetlyak (project 10412) gunboats was extremely important. To fulfill their tasks, these modest-sized ships were equipped with quite powerful firepower systems.

Specifically, the main firepower of the Svetlyak ship is the AK-176M gun and a low-altitude air-to-air missile complex Igla-1M (16 rounds). The ship is also equipped with 2 14.5mm machine guns that can shoot low-flying aircraft or small targets at sea. The Svetlyak gunship is equipped with 3 M504 diesel engines allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 30 knots, with a range of 3,500km.

According to information made public by Russia, the AK-176 is a new generation automatic naval gun, designed by the Burevestnik Scientific Research Institute (Nizhny Novgorod), capable of destroying air, surface and coastal targets, effectively providing fire support for infantry units on land.
