(Baonghean) -After a difficult warm-up match and a series of missed scoring opportunities against U23 Philippines, entering the second match of Group B, Vietnamese fans expected a better performance from U23 Vietnam against the lower-rated opponent, U23 Myanmar. However, the 90 minutes at Lebak Bulus Stadium did not meet the expectations of Vietnamese fans.

Against a Myanmar team that played tough and aggressively, our players' technical play was almost neutralized. Putting pressure on the opponent's field throughout the match, even playing with one more player from the 59th minute, U23 Vietnam still could not materialize their advantage.

In this match, U23 Myanmar showed a completely different face from the Myanmar team that lost 5-0 to U23 Vietnam in the VFF Cup 2011 friendly tournament. They entered the match with a very high determination, with a tight defense and very reasonable counterattacking style. Meanwhile, U23 Vietnam's attacking plans were quite monotonous, lacking in variation against a dense defense, with many layers of cover from Myanmar.

The hopes of U23 Vietnam, Trong Hoang, Van Quyet, Thanh Luong, did not have any breakthrough plays to change the game. Coach Falko Goetz was forced to send all the strikers on the field to find a goal, but his students did not leave any significant mark except for weak shots against goalkeeper Thihatthu.

A draw by U23 Myanmar is a regrettable result for U23 Vietnam. The chance to enter the semi-finals still belongs to U23 Vietnam when in the remaining 3 matches they only have to face U23 East Timor, U23 Brunei and U23 Laos. However, with what has been shown in the last 2 matches, the hope of "changing the medal color" of U23 Vietnam at SEA Games 26 seems a bit far-fetched!

It seems that the attack is still the weakest link of U23 Vietnam at present.
