Registering organizations and individuals who have donated artifacts related to the Dien Bien Phu battle.

On the morning of April 18th, at the Vietnam Military History Museum, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province held a ceremony to honor organizations and individuals who donated artifacts, documents, and materials related to the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

Mr. Pham Xuan Koi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province, presided over the ceremony. Colonel Nguyen Kim Ton, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, along with representatives from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, representatives from the Vietnam Military History Museum, the Logistics Museum, and a large number of veterans who fought in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, attended the ceremony. A large number of reporters from central and local newspapers and television stations were also present to cover the event.

The Dien Bien Phu Campaign donation campaign, organized by the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee in coordination with the People's Army Newspaper and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, was officially launched on June 13, 2013. As of April 15, 2014, 203 artifacts, memorabilia, documents, and materials had been collected from 40 organizations and individuals, primarily veterans and their relatives. Notably, donations came from Hanoi, Dien Bien Province, Bac Ninh Province, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Colonel and journalist Pham Phu Bang presented a memento: a bottle of Bordeaux wine given to General Vo Nguyen Giap by French veterans at Hill A1 in 1998.

The donated mementos, artifacts, and documents are very diverse, including 123 original items (67 metal items, 24 fabric/fiber items, 6 wood/bamboo items, 5 plastic items, 3 leather items, 3 paper items, 15 glass items, and 80 related paper documents). Mr. Pham Van Hung stated that most of these artifacts, mementos, and documents are mementos associated with stories from the battles; they are cherished and treasured possessions that each soldier who participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and their family members hold dear in their lives.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, daughter of painter Nguyen Bich, was inscribed in the ceremony.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province moved the delegates when they showed documentary footage documenting the donation of artifacts, mementos, and documents in Dien Bien province. These were everyday items, very familiar to soldiers during the campaign, such as: canvas backpacks, padded jackets, woolen blankets, camouflage parachutes, rubber sandals, water canteens… Particularly noteworthy was the presentation of a 24x14cm diary, containing 44 pages of handwritten notes and sketches in ink, recording the arduous moments of the war.

At the ceremony, Mr. Pham Van Hung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province, reported on the results of the campaign and emphasized that all the artifacts, relics, and documents received by the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum are of immense value; they are a valuable source of information to supplement the museum's archives on the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory, helping the museum build collections and create thematic exhibitions to serve visitors, researchers, and those seeking to learn more.

Colonel Nguyen Kim Ton delivered a speech at the registration ceremony.

Veteran Dao Ba Vinh (85 years old), currently residing in the Dich Vong New Urban Area (Cau Giay District, Hanoi), who served as a nurse during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, shared: "Since learning about the campaign to donate artifacts, memorabilia, and documents related to the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, we have informed many comrades. Some, despite having difficulty traveling or being paralyzed, still called their old comrades, encouraging them to collect and donate artifacts and memorabilia. Some comrades, undeterred by long distances and difficult transportation, actively searched for clues and information, encouraging their comrades to donate artifacts and memorabilia."

At the ceremony, veteran Dao Ba Vinh donated a medical kit, including scalpels, forceps, scissors, trays, and pliers, belonging to Professor and Doctor Nguyen Van Nhan, who participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, to the Dien Bien Phu Victory Historical Museum. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong, daughter of painter Nguyen Bich, donated a painting depicting soldiers helping ethnic minority people in Dien Bien harvest rice in the Muong Thanh fields. Notably, during the ceremony, the People's Army Newspaper donated copies of 33 issues of the Dien Bien Phu Victory Historical Museum that were written, printed, and distributed during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Kim Ton, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, affirmed that the newspapers used during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign were an indispensable source of spiritual nourishment for the soldiers; a miracle unprecedented in the history of world warfare. Recently, the donation of the newspaper that Colonel and artist Pham Thanh Tam, a veteran of the 351st Division, had meticulously preserved for the past 60 years, is a vivid testament to this immense significance.

Mr. Pham Xuan Koi, representing the People's Committee of Dien Bien Province, extended his deepest gratitude to the veterans and delegates present at the ceremony. He expressed his hope that in the future, the veterans would collect more artifacts, memorabilia, and documents related to the Dien Bien Phu Campaign to enrich the exhibition and research. He also hoped that the People's Army Newspaper and other central and local media outlets would further promote awareness so that more people understand the significance of this endeavor, which is a concrete action to ensure that the Dien Bien Phu Victory remains with all generations of Vietnamese people, international friends, and resonates through time.
