Coffee price today December 12, 2024: Continued increase to nearly 125,000 VND/kg
Today, December 12, domestic coffee prices continued to increase by 500-900 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching nearly 125,000 VND/kg. In the world market, Arabica prices are currently about 40% higher than Robusta prices.
Domestic coffee prices today
Specifically, today's coffee price in Dak Lak increased by 700 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 124,700 VND/kg.
Coffee price today in Lam Dong also increased by 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 124,000 VND/kg.
Similarly, today's coffee price in Gia Lai increased by 700 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 124,700 VND/kg.
Coffee prices today in Dak Nong remain at their highest level, increasing by VND900/kg compared to yesterday, reaching VND124,900/kg.
Coffee prices in Vietnam are rising amid a busy harvest season, according to Reuters. Despite being at its peak, high demand and limited supply are still the main reasons pushing up coffee prices. Currently, farmers in the Central Highlands have only harvested about 20% of the output, even though the crop has been in operation for two months.
The coffee market has seen strong fluctuations in the past week with prices rising rapidly, creating positive changes for the Vietnamese coffee industry. This is especially beneficial for farmers, as they have the opportunity to earn higher profits from their products.
However, this price increase is still seen as a great opportunity for the Vietnamese coffee industry to improve its position in the international market, while encouraging businesses to seek innovative solutions and improve operational efficiency.
World coffee prices today
At the end of the most recent trading session, the price of Robusta coffee in London for November 2024 delivery decreased by 205 USD/ton compared to yesterday, at 5,063 USD/ton, and for January 2025 delivery decreased by 198 USD/ton compared to yesterday, at 5,034 USD/ton.
Arabica coffee price for December 2024 delivery decreased by 14.75 cents/lb compared to yesterday, at 319.40 cents/lb, and for March 2025 delivery decreased by 14.60 cents/lb compared to yesterday, at 316.95 cents/lb.
Arabica coffee prices are currently around 40% higher than Robusta, making Robusta a more attractive option for roasters looking to cut production costs. This difference drives demand for Robusta in coffee blends.
However, the increase in coffee prices also brings significant challenges to businesses operating in the fields of export, roasting and retail. High input costs make businesses face the difficult problem of maintaining business efficiency.
