In the domestic market, the amount of coffee in the hands of the people is very small, only about 15%. Farmers are selling moderately, not in large quantities, because the price is not attractive enough.
Overall, this year's coffee supply is assessed to be insufficient to meet demand, but due to the complicated geopolitical situation, importers no longer tend to hoard as before but instead switch to buying just enough to minimize risks.
Vietnamese coffee prices fell slightly from last week, while in Indonesia, the discount was also narrowed as new-crop coffee began to appear on the market. However, some traders said supplies were still quite limited. Vietnamese farmers were holding on to their stocks because they believed current prices were still low, while neither Brazil nor Indonesia had abundant supplies.
World coffee prices today
Coffee prices on the world market fell sharply on two floors:
Robusta Coffee (London):
Delivery in July 2025: Down 157 USD/ton, to 4,821 USD/ton.
Delivery in September 2025: Down 148 USD/ton, to 4,812 USD/ton.
Arabica Coffee (New York):
July 2025 delivery: Down 10.5 cents/lb, to 364.5 cents/lb.
September 2025 delivery: Down 10.15 cents/lb, to 361.2 cents/lb.
According to experts and businesses, coffee prices on the London floor have recently decreased mainly because Brazil is preparing to enter the harvest season and the market is waiting for the results of negotiations related to the US's reciprocal tax.
During the tax deferral period, businesses rushed to complete delivery contracts. However, with the regulation only applying tax deferral to shipments arriving at ports during the effective period, combined with the fact that transporting coffee from Vietnam to the US takes about 45 days (East Coast) and 10-15 days shorter for the West Coast, the 90-day period is now nearing its end.
Arabica prices, on the other hand, have remained stable thanks to the main supply from Brazil. Shorter shipping times allow businesses in Brazil and the US to continue to deliver regularly, which has helped keep Arabica prices stable and less volatile.
