The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South on April 30th is creating a wave of "patriotic coffee" in many coffee shops in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other big cities. Many shops have quickly decorated their spaces in a style imbued with national identity, from the red flag with a yellow star, the map of Vietnam to symbols of the Unification Day. Not only creating a ripple effect on social networks, many shops have also recorded a spectacular increase in revenue, some up to 200%, with "full seats" lasting all week.
Mr. Ha, a cafe owner in Ho Chi Minh City, said that thanks to capturing the holiday trend, his shop's revenue has skyrocketed, especially on weekends. However, decorating in a historical spirit while still being modern and attractive is a big challenge. His shop must ensure that it accurately represents the image of the map of Vietnam, especially the sea and islands, while creating a bright space for customers to easily check in. The drink menu is also designed around values such as "Independence - Freedom - Happiness", with 100% domestic ingredients.
The wave of holiday decorations has not only appeared in big chain stores but also spread to small independent shops. Items such as national flag cakes, balloons, stickers and cups printed with commemorative motifs have turned coffee spaces into attractive destinations, attracting many young people to take photos, share and spread the spirit of national pride on social networks.
