In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee increased by 700 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 111,500 VND/kg.

Domestic coffee prices today are about 6000 VND/kg higher than world coffee prices. The main reason is that it is the end of the harvest season, leading to a scarcity of supply.
The erratic fluctuations over the past year have made predicting coffee prices difficult. Mr. Thai Nhu Hiep, Vice President of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), believes that the 2025-2026 crop year will be the most unpredictable ever due to the impact of many uncertain factors.
Fortunately, coffee production costs haven't increased significantly this year. Prices of agricultural inputs have remained relatively stable, with increases mainly in labor costs, so producers aren't under too much pressure regarding prices.
Some dealers said they have started buying early-crop coffee at a provisional price of 115,000 VND/kg, and are requiring deposits of up to 25% to secure the contract. However, the high deposit amount has made many hesitant, opting instead to buy in small lots to profit from a price difference of around 500 VND/kg rather than signing long-term contracts.

This past week, the global coffee market experienced unprecedented volatility, surprising even seasoned traders.
According to expert analysis, the price increase is mainly due to a decline in supply from Brazil. Reports show that Brazil's coffee exports to the US in August reached only 18,000 tons, a 46% decrease compared to the same period last year. Not only green coffee beans, but the supply of instant coffee also decreased by as much as 60%.
The main reason is believed to be the impact of the 50% retaliatory tariff policy of the US. This has led Brazil to redirect exports to the European market, especially Germany, with a volume of up to 25,000 tons.
Supply shortages from Brazil have driven up coffee prices in the US by an average of 21% year-on-year. Alternative sources from Vietnam and Colombia have not been sufficient to fill this gap, causing US coffee inventories to fall to low levels.
