Domestic coffee prices today

Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, April 25, 2025, have risen sharply again compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 130,000 and 130,500 VND/kg.

Accordingly, traders in Dak Nong province are buying coffee at the highest price of 130,500 VND/kg, a sharp increase of 1,100 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Similarly, the price of coffee in Dak Lak province is 130,500 VND/kg, an increase of 1,100 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Coffee prices in Gia Lai province increased by 1100 VND/kg and are trading at 130,400 VND/kg.

In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee increased by 1100 VND/kg and reached 130,000 VND/kg.

The European Union's new anti-deforestation regulations (EUDR), along with climate change and traceability requirements, are putting significant pressure on exporting countries, particularly Vietnam. With its production largely based on small-scale farming households, Vietnam faces numerous challenges in meeting the stringent EUDR standards.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Manh, Deputy Director of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, the forest mapping system in Vietnam is not standardized across provinces, making it difficult to identify areas suitable for export. Furthermore, the certification costs for each small planting area are very high.

Another notable issue is that approximately 15-20% of coffee-growing areas in Vietnam still lack land use certificates, making it more difficult to prove legality as required by European standards. These are major obstacles that the Vietnamese coffee industry needs to overcome if it wants to maintain its position in the international export market.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market have fallen sharply on both exchanges:

Robusta coffee (London):

May 2025 delivery: Increased by $74/ton, to $5,405/ton.

July 2025 delivery: Increased by $80/ton, to $5,442/ton.

Arabica coffee (New York):

May 2025 delivery: Up 10.55 cents/lb, to 396.3 cents/lb.

July 2025 delivery: Up 10.15 cents/lb, to 388.75 cents/lb.

Arabica coffee prices have surged, reaching a three-week high, supported by the appreciation of the Brazilian real. On April 23, the real rose to its highest level in two and a half weeks against the US dollar, prompting Brazilian coffee producers to reduce export demand due to improved domestic profitability.

The dry weather is also a factor supporting prices. In the state of Minas Gerais, rainfall in the week ending April 12th reached only 17.9 mm, 89% lower than the historical average, according to a report from Somar Meteorologia.

Based on forecasts from two major banks, Rabobank and Itau BBA, Brazil's coffee production in the 2025-2026 season is estimated to decrease by 3% to 6.4% compared to the previous season, mainly due to the prolonged dry weather in 2024.

Notably, arabica production could fall sharply by 10% to 13.6%. Meanwhile, robusta (conilon) coffee is expected to increase by 7.3% to 12%, partially offsetting the shortfall from arabica. Currently, robusta harvesting is underway in the states of Espirito Santo and Bahia.
