Impersonating a police officer to blackmail a neighbor who was diagnosed with F1
Knowing that the victim was in the F1 category but still had contact with some people, violating regulations on medical isolation to prevent and control the epidemic, Nguyen Huy Thong pretended to be a police officer, threatened and forced them to give money to ignore the case.
Previously, on December 18, Phu Ly City Police received a report from Ms. N, residing in Minh Khai Ward, Phu Ly City, about a subject claiming to be a Criminal Police officer threatening and forcing her to pay an amount of money from 3 to 6 million VND, otherwise she would be invited to the police station to be questioned for violating regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control. Out of fear, the victim transferred 1.8 million VND to Thong to "ignore" the violation.

Investigators take statement from suspect Nguyen Huy Thong. |
Upon receiving the report, Phu Ly City Police focused on verifying and clarifying that the perpetrator who committed the above property extortion was Nguyen Huy Thong.
At the police station, Thong initially confessed that because he lived in the same boarding house, he knew that the victim was an F1, and was under medical quarantine according to the decision of the People's Committee of Minh Khai Ward but still had contact with other people, so Thong claimed to be a police officer to threaten the victim and force him to give money. During the investigation, Thong also confessed to having committed 2 thefts in Phu Ly City.
Currently, the Police Agency is continuing to investigate and handle the subject according to the provisions of law./.
