Previously, on October 2, Duc Giang Ward Police (Long Bien District) received a complaint from Ms. M. (born in 1974, in Gia Lam District, Hanoi) about being scammed out of 100 million VND by a person pretending to be a police officer.

According to the report, Ms. M. met the man through a dating app. They met several times and he introduced himself as Nguyen Ha Son, a police officer.

After gaining Ms. M's trust, the subject tricked her into transferring 100 million VND. Then, the subject continued to make an appointment to come to her house to use deceitful tricks to defraud and appropriate Ms. M's money. The police arrested the subject while he was receiving 30 million VND from Ms. M.

At the police station, the suspect confessed that he was Pham Van Dung. Because he needed money for personal expenses, Dung went on a dating app and met Ms. M. Seeing that Ms. M. was gullible, the suspect defrauded and appropriated her money.
