Impersonating a journalist to extort money from a business
A young man claiming to be a journalist was caught red-handed by the police while receiving 50 million VND from a business.
On October 24, Colonel Khuong Duy Oanh - Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that the provincial authorities are temporarily detaining suspect Ngo Van Khich (34 years old, also known as Dang Ha, in Van Dien, Thanh Tri, Hanoi) to investigate the act of extortion.

Earlier on the evening of October 23, the police received a report that Ngo Van Khich had come to Tho Xuan district, claiming to be a reporter. He met with several businesses and threatened to reveal their violations, then threatened to write articles and publish them in newspapers to force the businesses to pay money to "let it go".
When Khich was receiving 50 million VND from a business, he was caught red-handed by the police.
According to Colonel Khuong Duy Oanh, the police seized three computers, two laptops, three cell phones, 10 letters of introduction and many documents related to a press agency, two ATM cards and 50 million VND in cash...
Initially, Ngo Van Khich confessed that he was working as a collaborator for several electronic information sites. Taking advantage of this identity, he went to Thanh Hoa to meet with several businesses and socio-political organizations to inquire about threats and extortion of property.
Thanh Hoa Provincial Police request organizations and individuals who are victims of Ngo Van Khich to contact the Criminal Police Department of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police for resolution.
