Impersonating a monk to campaign for temple construction

(Baonghean.vn) - In brown clothes, the subject claimed to be a Buddhist and was sent to raise money to build a pagoda in Huong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province. While committing the fraud, the subjects were discovered by the masses.

At around 2:30 p.m. on November 5, Son Hai commune police (Quynh Luu) clarified that two subjects impersonated Buddhists of the temple to beg for money to support the construction of the temple.

According to the people's reflection, there was a woman wearing a brown temple shirt. Taking advantage of the people's trust, the subject forged documents of Linh Son Pagoda (Hung Hoa commune, Huong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province) and went along the roads of Son Hai commune (Quynh Luu district, Nghe An) to call for donations to build a temple in Thua Thien Hue.

Immediately after receiving the report, the Son Hai Commune Police invited the subject to the commune police headquarters for questioning. Through verification, the commune police determined that the fake monk's real name was Nguyen Thi Phuong (born in 1988) in Hamlet 3, Nghia Dong Commune, Tan Ky District, Nghe An Province.

Here, Nguyen Thi Phuong said that on the same morning, her husband, Tran Van Minh (born in 1987), drove her by motorbike from Tan Ky district to Son Hai commune, Quynh Luu district to commit the act, while her husband waited in hamlet 10.

Phuong confessed that he was not a Buddhist assigned by the temple to collect charity money, but pretended to be a Buddhist to beg for money to make a living.

During the administrative inspection, the police confiscated fake monk clothes and more than 300,000 VND that the two subjects had just "donated" and a donation introduction letter to build a pagoda from Linh Son Pagoda, Hamlet 2, Hung Hoa District, Thua Thien Hue Province.

Son Hai commune police drew up a record and expelled the two subjects from the locality.
