Comedian Chi Tai passed away on December 9th due to a stroke. He was rushed to a hospital in Phu Nhuan but did not survive. According to the obituary, Hoai Linh and Viet Huong will represent Chi Tai in organizing the funeral in Vietnam.

Artist Viet Huong said that she and Hoai Linh were authorized by Chi Tai's wife to let friends and colleagues say goodbye to him for the last time. The announcement from Hoai Linh clearly stated that the funeral will be held at 7:45 a.m. on December 12, with a visitation from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the same day at the Ministry of National Defense Funeral Home, 5 Pham Ngu Lao, Go Vap District (HCMC). After that, the body of artist Chi Tai will be taken to the airport to complete procedures to return to the US according to the family's wishes.

Chi Tai's sudden passing shocked and saddened many artists. Hoai Linh himself was also surprised and held back his grief as he held a funeral for his close friend of 20 years.

At this time, Chi Tai's wife is also suffering great shock since receiving the bad news. A relative of the late artist said: "Loan also wants to go home very much but can't. Loan is very emotional now, she called me just now. Right now, we are just keeping the body here, then we will do the procedures to bring it back to the US. During the time we keep the body, I have to be there to welcome relatives to visit, and strangers will not be allowed in. That is Phuong Loan's idea."

In addition to working with Hoai Linh to take care of the funeral of her late colleague, Viet Huong was also asked by Chi Tai's wife to prepare the procedures to bring his body back to the US. Accordingly, she and the late artist's relatives in Vietnam reported to the Consular Office - Overseas Vietnamese, Department of Foreign Affairs of the locality. Next, the Consular Office - Overseas Vietnamese of the locality is responsible for working with the provincial/municipal police to make a record of the scene as well as inventory the late artist's assets. Currently, during the Covid-19 pandemic, bringing Chi Tai's body back to the US is more difficult than before.

To bring Chi Tai's body from Vietnam to a foreign country, specifically the US, his family needs to do a lot of paperwork and spend a lot of money.

Artist Viet Huong was authorized to take care of the procedures to bring Chi Tai's body to the US.

Before this information, many people were curious about the actual amount of money Chi Tai's family would have to spend to bring his body to the US. According to information provided by the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, in case of wanting to bring the body of an American citizen back to the country for burial, the cost of freezing and transporting by air would be around 12,000 - 18,000 USD (about 278 million - 416 million VND).

This figure can be higher, depending on the price of the airfare and the services of the funeral company. If cremation and shipping of ashes to the US will cost around 3,500 - 8,000 USD (about 81 million - 185 million VND).

Before proceeding with the transfer of the body abroad, two procedures must be completed: the death notice and the death certificate. Based on the death notice from the health agency or local government where the death occurred, the procedure for issuing the death certificate is carried out at the Department of Justice of the province/city, after which the body will be embalmed with the participation of all parties. After being placed in the coffin, the coffin will be sealed and the customs representative will seal the coffin for transportation.

Currently, Chi Tai's relatives and colleagues in Vietnam are hoping to see him one last time at the funeral, before the male artist's body is transferred to the US for burial.
