Victim's family petitions for Gateway school case
The lawyer of Le Hoang Long's family sent 6 petitions to clarify the case at Gateway school to the Cau Giay district prosecution agency.
This is the first time the victim's family has sent a petition through three representative lawyers, Vu Gia Truong, Pham Huong Giang and Le Duc Thang, regarding the details of the case.
Accordingly, the lawyer requested to collect all data from the camera system installed at locations at the Gateway school gate, hallways, and in classrooms; re-examine the inside of the car carrying Long driven by driver Doan Quy Phien to collect traces on the curtains...
Considering that the procedures for picking up and managing students at Gateway School are also important documents to assess the responsibilities of the people involved, the lawyer suggested collecting documents on the responsibilities of picking up and managing students. These include the person picking up and dropping off students (monitor), the student reception department, the teachers of Long's class, the contact person, the management and supervision department...
Through a lawyer, the victim's family wants to clarify the statements of the students who were on the same bus, verify the traces on Long's backpack; and establish a medical advisory board to analyze Long's clinical signs before his death.

On the afternoon of September 12, Mr. Dinh Minh Tao (Chief of the People's Procuracy of Cau Giay District) said that he had received the petition from the lawyer representing the victim's family and assigned the prosecutor to handle it. However, the above recommendations had been clarified by the prosecutor in coordination with the police in advance according to the investigation process.
Mr. Tao said that the camera data has been fully collected, from which there is enough basis to confirm that on the morning of August 6, Long "did not get out of the car to go to class". The forensic examination results determined that the 6-year-old boy died in the car between 12:30 and 15:30 on the same day due to respiratory failure and heat shock, not due to external force.
Aboutsome detailsAccording to the defendant Nguyen Bich Quy (the person who put Long in the car) told the press before being detained, Mr. Tao said that the balloon did not just appear in the car on the afternoon of August 6 as Ms. Quy had reported. The investigation agency took statements from the students and they confirmed that the balloon had been in the car since morning. Regarding the detail that Long left home in the morning wearing a red shirt but in the afternoon he wore a gray shirt, the authorities found the red shirt crumpled up in Long's backpack. The shirt has been sent for examination to clarify the traces.
The head of the Cau Giay District People's Procuracy said that the case is still under investigation to clarify the problem. The authorities will review the school's responsibility, the handover process, and student management to clarify individual responsibility with the viewpoint that "wherever there is a mistake, we will prosecute it and if we cannot prosecute, we will use that as a basis to make recommendations to help limit incidents".
On the second day of first grade on the morning of August 6, Long was picked up by Mrs. Quy and taken to Gateway School, about 3 km from home by driver Phien. That same afternoon, Long was found dead in the car after being forgotten for 9 hours.
On August 27, Ms. Quy was prosecuted and detained for the crime ofInvoluntary manslaughter. 7 days later, Mr. Phien was prosecuted and released on bail for the same crime. The police are continuing to expand the investigation of the case, clarifying the responsibilities of those involved.
