A poor family with 3 children who suffered a tragic accident in the explosion in Quynh Luu needs help from the community.
(Baonghean.vn) - After surgery, the health of the two brothers HTAĐ and HTKV has improved; their shock condition, which could have led to death, has stabilized. However, the two children are still at high risk of infection due to foreign objects and major limb injuries. In the long term, the two children will still need more surgeries.
The two brothers are still in critical condition.
Talking about the injury status of 2 patients HTKV (born in 2015) and HTAĐ (born in 2013) - 2 brothers inexplosionin Quynh Tan commune, districtQuynh LuuOn April 2, Dr. Thai Van Binh - Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Burns, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital said: The two children were transferred from the lower level at 6:08 p.m. in very serious condition. Both were in traumatic shock, had lost a lot of blood, and had very complicated limb injuries.
Specifically, HTKV suffered major injuries to both arms and legs. His right wrist and hand were completely crushed; all the wrist bones were gone, leaving only a layer of skin between his forearm and hand. His left hand was also crushed, missing two fingers and the middle part of another finger.

HTKV's right tibia was broken into three pieces and part of the bone was missing. The right foot was split open. The soft tissue damage on the right leg was very severe. The left foot also had an injury to the toes.
Although HTAĐ was less injured than her younger sister HTKV, she also suffered major injuries to her left leg, face, and kidney.
Both children were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit - Surgery and were given intensive resuscitation by doctors there. Immediately afterwards, doctors from the Intensive Care Unit - Surgery and the Orthopedic - Burn Department held a consultation and decided to perform emergency surgery to address the blood loss.
4 doctors (including 1 PhD, 1 master) of the Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Burns directly performed surgery on the 2 children. Before the surgery, the doctors clearly explained to the parents that HTKV's right hand could not be saved.
At 10:10 p.m. on April 2, HTKV underwent emergency surgery. Doctors were forced to amputate his forearm; cut off two crushed fingers on his left hand; and reattach one finger on his left hand to save his life. In the leg injury, doctors tried to preserve the leg, so they cleaned the wound, removed foreign objects, and temporarily fixed the bone with nails... At 1:30 a.m. on April 3, the emergency surgery for HTKV ended.
Next, the doctors continued to perform emergency surgery on HTAĐ by cutting, connecting muscles, creating soft tissue wounds on the left calf, and removing foreign objects from the right thigh. At 3 a.m. on April 3, the emergency surgery on HTAĐ was completed.

After emergency surgery, HTKV's health has shown good progress. Photo: Thanh Chung |
Dr. Thai Van Binh shared: After the emergency surgery, the shock was resolved, the children gradually stabilized so they were brought back to the Intensive Care - Surgery Department for continued treatment, pain relief, and anti-shock. The two emergency surgeries were successful, the critical stage was over, however the risk of serious infection threatening the lives and health of the two children is still very high because the wounds have many foreign objects.
Later, when the infection is resolved, it is likely that the two children will need to undergo additional surgeries to graft skin and reconstruct damaged parts of the body that have not been completely repaired.
At the Intensive Care Unit - Surgery, at this point, HTAĐ can breathe and eat on his own. HTKV's health has also shown good progress. HTKV's endotracheal tube has been removed and his shock condition leading to the risk of death has stabilized.
Master, Doctor Le Thi Minh Hang - Head of the Intensive Care Unit said: Although there has been a lot of progress, the limb injuries of the two children are still very complicated, requiring close monitoring as well as long-term treatment. It is very difficult to predict the health of the two children in the future.
The pain will go with the years
Before the pain of HTKV and HTAĐ and their families, the doctors and nurses at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital were extremely sorry. With such severe injuries, HTKV's future will be difficult to take care of himself. The doctors at the hospital have been trying their best to save, treat, and ease the pain of the 2 children and their families.

Ms. Le Thi Hoa was "numb" before the pain of her children. Photo: Thanh Chung |
Ms. Le Thi Hoa - mother of the three victims of the explosion, HTKV, HTAĐ and HTN (born in 2009, less seriously injured than her two younger siblings, being treated at Quang Thanh General Hospital - Quynh Luu district) seemed to be "numb" by the pain. Ms. Hoa has been awake for three days now to monitor, care for, encourage, and pray for her three children to "survive the disaster".
Ms. Le Thi Hoa shared in tears: “My husband and I got married in 2011. Family life was already very difficult. In addition to working on a few fields, we tried to do whatever we could to earn money to raise our children and make ends meet. We had just escaped poverty, but now a terrible and cruel incident has struck our family. Out of our four children, three are currently incapacitated and in the emergency room... It's so painful! Even if we have to sell our house, we have to save our children.”

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam - Chairman of Quynh Tan Commune People's Committee shared: The family of Mr. Ho Trong Nham - Ms. Le Thi Hoa has 3 children who were injured in an accident and their economic situation is very difficult. For many years, the family has been listed as a poor household in the commune. For more than a year, the family has proactively requested to be removed from the poor household list and downgraded to a near-poor household. Now all 3 children have been injured and have to undergo long-term treatment, and the couple will face even more difficulties. As a local representative, I hope that my brothers, neighbors, and benefactors will join hands to help the family of Mr. Ho Trong Nham - Ms. Le Thi Hoa overcome this disaster.
At this time, there have been some kind-hearted people with a "little, much love" heart joining hands to share the pain with the family of Mr. Ho Trong Nham - Ms. Le Thi Hoa... However, it must be said that the battle with the pain of the injuries of the couple's 3 children is still persistent, lasting without end. Hopefully, the social community will continue to support this unfortunate family.
