Mr. Nguyen Bac Son's family paid 66 billion VND before the verdict of AVG case
As of the morning of December 27, Mr. Nguyen Bac Son's family has paid a total of 66 billion VND to remedy the consequences of Mobifone's purchase of AVG.
As scheduled, on the morning of December 28, the Hanoi People's Court will announce the first instance verdict on the case of violations in Mobifone's purchase of 95% of AVG's shares. Before the verdict, an important detail emerged when the lawyer and family of Mr. Nguyen Bac Son said that they had recovered 66 billion VND. On December 27, the representative of the Hanoi People's Court confirmed this.

The case file also shows that the investigation agency has seized Mr. Son’s house on Ly Nam De Street (Hanoi) and bank account with more than 500 million VND. Mr. Son agreed to pay the amount in the bank account to remedy the consequences.
Thus, Mr. Son has basically recovered the amount of 3 million USD (equivalent to more than 66 billion VND) received from Pham Nhat Vu. This is an important mitigating circumstance before the sentencing.
Previously, the representative of Mr. Nguyen Bac Son's family said that the money to compensate the defendant was money the family had collected and borrowed.
The Procuracy proposed a sentence for defendant Nguyen Bac Son, former Minister of Information and Communications: 16-18 years in prison for violating regulations on management and use of public investment capital causing serious consequences, and the death penalty for accepting bribes; the combined penalty is the death penalty..
The court is expected to announce the verdict at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow (December 28)./.
