Korean star's family commits suicide, donates organs to save 5 people
After 2 days in a coma due to suicide, actor Kim Sung Min was brain dead. His family donated his kidneys, liver, and corneas to save the lives of 5 patients.
According to Koreatimes, doctors at St Mary's Hospital, Seocho-gu District (Seoul) held a press conference to announce Kim Sung Min's organ donation surgery. Doctors said that at 10:15 am on June 26, after a 7-hour surgery, Kim Sung Min was brain dead and could no longer be saved. At 6 pm on the same day, the forensic department performed the surgery. Thanks to donated organs such as liver, kidney, and cornea, Kim Sung Min saved the lives of 5 people.
After the surgery, at 11pm on June 26, Kim Sung Min was removed from the ventilator. His funeral was held at the hospital a few hours after the organ donation surgery. On June 28, the actor was buried at Wonjidong Memorial Park, Seoul.

Previously, on June 24, Kim Sung Min hanged himself at his home. He was discovered by the police and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. The cause of Kim Sung Min's suicide was stress and fatigue. His drug addiction also caused him to fall into a deadlock. He had an argument with his wife before committing suicide.
Kim Sung Min was born in 1973, is a famous Korean actor who participated in blockbuster movies such as The Little Mermaid, Family Glory, What to Eat Tonight... His career went downhill when he got involved with drugs. In 2010, Kim Sung Min was arrested for transporting synthetic drugs to Korea. In 2015, he was imprisoned again for possession and use of illegal substances. The actor was released from prison in January this year.
