Effects from genuine machines

According to him, the decline of hand-carried iPhones can be divided into 3 stages. In particular, when the new devices arrive in the country, the selling price of iPhones drops every day, even by the hour. In the first week, the price of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus dropped by tens of millions of dong.

Currently, the market is in the third phase when the price of the device drops sharply again when the genuine device is about to arrive in the country. In particular, the iPhone 7 32 GB only decreased by a few hundred thousand VND but the large capacity version or iPhone 7 Plus has a decrease of millions of VND.

Specifically, the iPhone 7 32 GB is currently being sold for around 16.5 million VND. The 128 GB version has dropped from 19.5 million VND to 18.5 million VND after 2 weeks. The 256 GB version has also dropped sharply. Meanwhile, the selling price of the iPhone 7 Plus has dropped significantly. From 22.5-23 million VND for the 32 GB version, the selling price of the device is now 20.5 million VND. The 128 GB version has dropped from 26 million VND to around 23 million VND.

The portable mobile market adjusts prices quite flexibly so that the difference between each model and the genuine device is at the most reasonable level.

"The price of 16.5 million VND for the iPhone 7 32 GB is enough to make it attractive to buyers in the context of the genuine device being offered for 18.8 million VND," said Mr. Trung Tri - representative of a mobile phone system in Cau Giay, Hanoi. "With previous models with high prices, the discount will be larger to ensure the difference is around 2 million VND."

The stores said they were not worried that genuine iPhones would affect the carry-on market because this product line still had its own customer base. In fact, the sales of carry-on iPhones remained stable, even increasing slightly even when major mobile systems were heavily promoting genuine devices that were about to hit the shelves.

Predicting the selling price of hand-carried iPhones in the near future, Mr. Huy said that the price of the device will decrease but not too much. "Maybe from now until Lunar New Year, the price of hand-carried iPhones will only decrease by a maximum of 1 million VND for each model. The price of iPhone 7 will be around 16 million VND, 7 Plus from 19.5 million VND".

Older machines are discounted every day.

The appearance of iPhone 7, 7 Plus has caused the price of old models to drop sharply. These days, mobile stores are having a headache in dealing with inventory because if they only have inventory for about a month, they will definitely suffer a loss of millions of dong for a model that costs over 10 million.

Older models like iPhone 6S and 6S Plus also saw sharp price drops following the iPhone 7 wave.

For example, a hard-to-sell model like the iPhone 6S Plus 64 GB in gray, which has been in stock for a month (used goods), is currently priced at over 14 million VND while the import price of the device is over 15 million.

In the past few days, the price of used iPhone 6 has also dropped sharply, from 7.6 million VND to approximately 7 million VND, used locked devices cost nearly 6 million VND. The iPhone 6S 16 GB costs 10 million VND for a used device, 12 million VND for a new device. The locked device alone costs only 7.5 million VND.

The reason why the price of old iPhones has dropped sharply in recent days is because the supply of goods from foreign wholesalers is becoming abundant again. Many products that were previously difficult to import, such as locked phones or rare capacity models, are also abundant again.

Increased competition from stores as the holiday shopping season approaches also contributes to the plunge in iPhone prices.

Although the price of iPhone 6 or 6S has dropped sharply, the iPhone 5 or 5S is the best-selling model in the hand-carried system. Good sales, combined with abundant supply, the selling price of these smartphones even increased, not decreased.

Currently, the iPhone 5S 16 GB is priced at nearly 4.5 million VND, the iPhone 5 is priced at 3.2 million VND. The locked iPhone 5 and 5S models are also chosen by many people.
