Ms. La Thi Lieu, a pork seller at Nhan Chinh market in Hanoi, said pork prices have increased after the recent storm due to the impact on supply.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh from the Wholesale Market Management Board in Ha Nam reported that pig purchasing and breeding activities were affected, reducing supply from 1,500 to 1,100-1,200 pigs per day.

The expert explained that the increase in pig prices was due to damage from Typhoon Yagi and floods, which caused loss and inundation of farms, as well as disruption to transportation.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced that storm No. 3 and heavy rains killed 26,485 livestock and nearly 3 million poultry, making it difficult to restore herds.

Mr. Duong Tat Thang, Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry, said that damage caused by storms and floods will not significantly affect overall supply and consumer demand until the end of the year.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has directed businesses and industry associations to support reproduction by providing breeds, feed, materials and disease prevention support to meet food needs.
