The rice market is stable today, with no major price fluctuations. In Sa Dec, Dong Thap, the amount of rice purchased at market warehouses is steady, keeping prices stable.

The price of raw IR 504 rice from the Summer-Autumn crop is currently 10,600 - 10,750 VND/kg, while finished IR 504 rice is priced from 12,800 - 13,000 VND/kg. Prices for other rice varieties at retail markets remain unchanged from yesterday.

Nang Nhen rice has the highest price at 28,000 VND/kg.

Jasmine rice costs between 18,000 and 20,000 VND per kilogram.

Nang Hoa rice and Huong Lai rice both cost 20,000 VND/kg.

Regular white rice costs around 15,000 - 16,000 VND/kg.

Long-grain fragrant rice and Taiwanese fragrant rice are priced from 20,000 to 21,000 VND/kg.

Common white rice costs 17,000 VND/kg.

Regular Soc rice and Soc Thai rice are priced from 18,000 to 21,000 VND/kg.

IR 50404 rice is priced from 7,300 to 7,500 VND/kg.

Dai Thom 8 rice is priced from 7,900 to 8,200 VND/kg.

OM 5451 rice is priced from 7,600 to 7,900 VND/kg.

OM 18 rice is priced from 7,900 to 8,200 VND/kg.

OM 380 rice is priced from 7,600 to 7,800 VND/kg.

Japanese rice is priced from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.

Dried Nàng Nhen rice is priced at 20,000 VND/kg.

By-product prices today, September 16, 2024

The glutinous rice market remained stable, with prices unchanged from yesterday. Specifically, Long An IR 4625 dry glutinous rice was priced from 9,800 to 9,900 VND/kg. Long An 3-month dry glutinous rice also remained unchanged, priced from 9,800 to 10,000 VND/kg.

Prices for various rice by-products range from 6,150 to 8,800 VND/kg. Specifically, broken rice (OM 5451 variety) is priced from 8,600 to 8,800 VND/kg.

Dried rice bran is priced from 6,150 to 6,350 VND/kg.

Rice export prices as of September 16, 2024

Vietnam's export rice prices remained stable, with 100% broken rice at $452/ton, standard 5% broken rice at $563/ton, and 25% broken rice at $533/ton.

The 2024 summer-autumn rice crop in Vietnam is almost complete, with 1.469 million hectares planted, reaching 99% of the plan. The recent harvest in Vietnam yielded 6.2 million tons of rice from 1 million hectares. Vietnam is currently planting for the 2024 autumn-winter crop on 546,000 hectares and the 2024 main crop on 7,000 hectares.

Flooding in northern Vietnam may affect rice production but has not yet impacted the supply of rice for export.

Indian rice export prices have fallen to their lowest level in eight months, with parboiled rice (5% broken) trading at $528-534 per ton.

Indian rice buyers are delaying purchases due to expectations of reduced export duties, putting pressure on export demand. The Indian government lifted the floor price for basmati rice from September 13 to support farmers and boost exports.
