Rice prices today, August 23rd

In the Mekong Delta, rice supplies decreased slightly today, leading to limited purchasing activity.

The price of IR 504 summer-autumn rice is currently 11,500 - 11,600 VND/kg, down 50 VND compared to yesterday. Finished IR 504 rice also decreased by 50 VND, down to 13,550 - 13,650 VND/kg.

At local markets, rice prices remain unchanged. Nang Nhen rice is the most expensive at 28,000 VND/kg. Other varieties such as Jasmine, Nang Hoa, and white rice range from 15,000 VND/kg to 21,000 VND/kg.

In the Mekong Delta, rice prices on August 23rd saw a slight increase, while the prices of some other rice varieties decreased slightly.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province:

The price of IR 50404 rice today ranges from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.

Dai Thom 8 rice is priced from 8,400 to 8,600 VND/kg, an increase of 100 VND compared to yesterday.

OM 5451 rice is sold at prices ranging from 8,200 to 8,400 VND/kg.

OM 18 rice is priced from 8,500 to 8,700 VND/kg.

OM 380 rice is priced between 7,800 and 8,000 VND/kg.

Japanese rice is priced from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.

Dried Nàng Nhen rice is sold at 20,000 VND/kg.

By-product prices today, August 23rd

The price of glutinous rice is slightly lower today compared to yesterday:

The price of IR 4625 glutinous rice has decreased by 50 to 100 dong, currently ranging from 7,500 to 7,650 dong per kilogram.

Sticky rice from An Giang maintains its price, fluctuating between 7,000 and 7,200 VND per kilogram.

The price of by-products remains unchanged from yesterday:

OM 5451 sheets are priced from 9,400 to 9,600 VND per kilogram.

Dried rice bran is priced from 7,150 to 7,250 VND per kilogram.

Rice export prices on August 23rd

Vietnam's export rice prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday. 100% broken rice was priced at US$440/ton, standard 5% broken rice at US$578/ton, and 25% broken rice at US$541/ton, according to the Vietnam Food Association.

Since the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) came into effect four years ago, Vietnam's exports to the EU have reached nearly $170 billion, an increase of 50%.

Agricultural products, especially rice, are among the main export items, with an annual growth rate of 15%.

Thanks to the EVFTA, rice exports to the EU in 2023 increased by 10%, reaching 104,000 tons and $71.7 million.

Vietnam has exceeded its annual rice export quota to the EU of 80,000 tons, exporting to 26 out of 27 EU member states. In the first quarter of this year, rice exports to the EU increased by nearly 118%, reaching 46,000 tons and $41.4 million.

Although the EU is not the largest market for Vietnamese rice, they are willing to pay a higher price for quality products, such as ST25 rice, which is popular in many member countries.
