If only...!
(Baonghean) - Following the strangely devastating and inexplicable defeat of the Vietnamese national football team at My Dinh Stadium, many people suspect match-fixing. If it wasn't match-fixing, how could there have been such absurd and ridiculous goals conceded? It makes sense! And so, public opinion is clamoring for an investigation to clarify whether this was the main cause of the millions of bitter disappointments for the fans.
Very quickly and urgently, the governing body of football immediately requested the police to open an investigation to clarify whether or not players were involved in match-fixing for money. It must be acknowledged that this was a strong and timely response, highly commendable and worthy of praise. However, upon reflection, one wonders why negative behaviors in football receive so much attention and why authorities intervene so quickly? Is it because it's a sport loved and admired nationwide, thus creating significant pressure? Or is it because everyone hates negative behavior in football, a sport known for its fairness?
It's also possible that the subjects of the investigation are ordinary football players, without status, power, or powerful connections, so they don't feel any need to be cautious or show any restraint? But anyway, whatever the reason, the immediate and decisive reaction to such negative behavior is highly commendable.
And just imagine how wonderful it would be if negative behaviors in other areas were also dealt with decisively and swiftly by the authorities. For example, if a government official suddenly becomes unusually wealthy, owning multiple houses, building excessively large homes, and purchasing expensive cars, and when public opinion raises concerns and demands clarification, the internal affairs sector enthusiastically intervenes immediately. Or if a mansion belonging to a former high-ranking official suddenly appears on public land, causing a stir throughout society, the relevant authorities, under the watchful eye of the public, would immediately take decisive action without waiting for the press to repeatedly raise the issue before finally taking action.
If that were the case, there would be fewer issues and problems in today's life that are considered "pressing and prominent." Corruption would also not spread throughout society, becoming a "national scourge" or "internal enemy" that causes the entire nation and people to worry and seek every possible way to combat it.
Therefore, one can keep thinking and wishing: "If only...!"
