Hypothesis on the cause of 7 deaths after music festival
A girl said she saw someone mix tablets into water bottles and then offer them drinks at a music festival at West Lake Water Park.
Witnessing many people fainting at a music festival at Ho Tay Water Park, Hanoi on the evening of September 16, a 20-year-old girl said that even though many days have passed, the trauma has not subsided.
She said that half way through the show that night, she saw a friend standing next to her holding a blue pill and asking someone in the group to buy a bottle of water. "She crushed the pill into powder, mixed it into the bottle, shook it, took two sips, and danced to the music," the 20-year-old girl said.
During the music festival, she saw at least three other young men mix "candy" into bottles of water and then offer it to people around them. She was also offered it but declined. However, according to her, some girls drank the bottle because they were thirsty.
The next morning, when she heard that authorities had confirmed that seven people had died after attending the concert and that all had tested positive for drugs, she couldn't help but wonder about the water bottle that day.

An officer with many years of experience in fighting drug crimes, currently working at the Ministry of Public Security, also hypothesized that the victims may have drunk water containing drugs, leading to shock and rapid death. He also said that they even used drugs passively, so their bodies could not adapt in time.
According to him, in the cramped and chaotic space of a music festival, it is difficult for crystal meth users to use inhalers in the usual way, so the most convenient way to get drugs and stimulants into the body is through drinking water or alcohol.
"The investigation agency will certainly have to clarify what substances were contained in those water bottles, who provided them and gave them to the music festival attendees to drink," he said.
Currently, authorities have not announced the results of the investigation but confirmed that they have collected many "laughing balloons" and some pills of suspected drugs.
To clarify this matter, Hanoi police have initiated a criminal case.Concealing the illegal use of drugsandEnticing others to use illegal drugs.

Using drugs in high doses or using many types at once can easily lead to poisoning.
Colonel Nguyen Xuan Truong (Director of the Drug Testing Center, Institute of Criminal Science - Ministry of Public Security) said that synthetic drugs (especially crystal meth) are very destructive to the brain. For new users, it changes the chemical composition of the neuronal system. Long-term users will change the structure of nerve cells, leading to memory loss, psychosis, schizophrenia, paranoia...
Synthetic drugs are often used with other stimulants such as alcohol and beer, which have a strong impact on the cardiovascular system. Users experience increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, increased breathing rate, and fake energy... and end up feeling lethargic and tired.
"Especially, in a stuffy crowd, when combined with laughing gas (N2O gas), users are at risk of suffocation," Colonel Truong emphasized.
The Director of the Drug Assessment Center also said that when using drugs, users tend to increase the dose. That is, if they want to have the same feeling of high as the previous time or reduce the unwanted effects caused by drugs, users must use a higher dose. In this way, the increasing dose will lead to poisoning, even death.
By looking at the outside of a drug pill, it is impossible to know what substance or amount is inside, so most people use it based on their feelings: based on the previous dose or on advice. This can easily lead to poisoning due to overdose.

The organizers promote this as a grand music festival with a multi-stage model, featuring the world's top DJ/Producer names, and a famous electronic music festival in the region.
Until the end of the program, ambulances were continuously sent to take people who fainted to the emergency room. Authorities confirmed 7 people died and 5 others were in a coma, including 3 girls. The deaths all tested positive for drugs, aged 22-29. Music festival at Ho Tay Water Park
On the evening of July 13, Lieutenant Nguyen Duc Dat and his teammates were chasing a drug trafficking case in Vinh Long. Dat was thirsty so he drank a cup of water from the scene. On the way back to headquarters, Dat showed signs of discomfort, afraid that he would not be able to control his behavior, so he asked his teammates to handcuff him and inform his relatives.
A report from Vinh Long General Hospital showed that Dat was admitted to the hospital in a state of agitation, screaming, and panic, and was restrained by four family members.
According to Vinh Long Provincial Police, the water that Lieutenant Dat drank contained methamphetamine. The amount of methamphetamine in the 500 ml water that Dat drank was more than 10 grams. This caused the lieutenant to be poisoned and die.
