Today, September 14th, pepper prices are at 148,000 - 151,000 VND/kg. The price remains unchanged compared to yesterday. This week, the export price of Vietnamese black pepper has increased by hundreds of USD in a single day.
Domestic pepper prices
Today's pepper prices in key growing regions remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Therefore, the average domestic pepper price is between 148,000 VND/kg and 151,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 148,000 VND/kg.
Today's pepper price in Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong) remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is 150,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai also remains unchanged from yesterday at 150,000 VND/kg.
Additionally, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 148,000 VND/kg.
This week saw a major turning point as the export price of Vietnamese black pepper surged by hundreds of dollars in just one day. The desire of consumers to hold onto their stock, coupled with rapidly increasing foreign demand, created a new price surge.
Domestic supply is very limited. The main pepper harvest in our country ended in mid-year, and there is not much stock left. Many farmers and traders tend to hoard, not wanting to sell immediately because they expect prices to rise even higher.
Unusual weather patterns in key pepper-growing regions such as the Central Highlands and the Southeast are also a cause for concern. Early rains negatively impact the flowering and fruiting process for the next crop, leading to supply shortages and driving up pepper prices.
Demand from the international market is also returning. China is buying very aggressively. Many foreign traders are also increasing their buying activity for speculative purposes, anticipating that prices will continue to rise in the near future.
The consolidation of goods from both domestic and international businesses creates significant pressure, contributing to a surge in export prices. Furthermore, rising global transportation and logistics costs are also an indirect factor driving up export prices.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on September 13th (local time) as follows:
Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,074/ton. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$10,024/ton.
Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,500 per ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,700/tonne. Similarly, ASTA white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$12,900/tonne.
Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) is 6,600 USD/ton; and the price of 550 gr/l is 6,800 USD/ton.
In addition, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,250 per ton.
