Today's domestic pepper price, July 18, is at 138,000 - 140,000 VND/kg, maintaining a high price compared to yesterday. Although supply is in short supply, weak purchasing power has prevented pepper price increases from breaking out.

Pepper prices today in key growing areas remain high compared to yesterday. Accordingly, the domestic pepper price level is from 138,000 VND/kg to 140,000 VND/kg.
In the Central Highlands region, pepper prices in Dak Lak today remain high compared to yesterday, currently at 140,000 VND/kg.
Pepper price today in Gia Lai remains the same as yesterday at 138,000 VND/kg.
Pepper price today in Lam Dong remains the same as yesterday at 140,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, pepper price in Ho Chi Minh City today is at 139,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.
In addition, today's pepper price in Dong Nai remains the same as yesterday, currently at 139,000 VND/kg.
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) said it has sent a petition to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment regarding the difficulties businesses are facing in the process of applying for Food Safety Certificates for exported plant-based products, especially spices.
From July 1, 2025, the issuance of this certificate will be assigned to provincial agencies to implement according to the provisions of Circular No. 12/2025/TT-BNNMT. However, the new regulation does not fully inherit the previous guidance content under Circular 44/2018/TT-BNNPTNT, causing confusion in many localities in implementation and causing delays in the issuance of certificates.
This delay has created many difficulties for export businesses. Goods cannot be cleared through customs on time, affecting contract progress and causing financial losses for businesses.
In particular, businesses in the spice industry are facing major obstacles when they cannot promptly meet certification requirements from export markets such as the EU. This not only causes export stagnation but also disrupts the supply chain, affects raw material procurement and product processing plans and reduces reputation with international partners.
Pepper price today July 18 in the world market
In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on July 17 (Hanoi time) as follows:
The price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper decreased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching 7,222 USD/ton (down 0.04%). In addition, the price of Muntok white pepper also decreased slightly compared to yesterday, reaching 10,066 USD/ton (down 0.05%).
Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price decreased slightly compared to yesterday at 5,750 USD/ton (down 0.86%).
Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,900/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained stable from yesterday at $11,750/ton.
Prices of all types of Vietnamese pepper remained stable compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,440 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,570 USD/ton.
Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at USD 9,150/ton.
In the global market, major importers such as the US and EU are currently postponing purchases due to the lack of a final result on the 50% countervailing duty on Brazilian pepper. This wait has slowed down international transactions and pushed global inventories to low levels.
In major exporting countries such as India, Indonesia and Malaysia, pepper prices remained almost unchanged, reflecting a cautious sentiment, waiting for clearer market signals.
Despite the shortage in supply, weak purchasing power has prevented pepper prices from rising. Domestically, many businesses are still cautious in purchasing and waiting for further signals from important markets such as China and Europe. If major importers return early in the fourth quarter, pepper prices are expected to rise again.
Vietnam’s pepper industry is currently facing many challenges due to climate change, rising production costs and increasingly stringent technical barriers from export markets. In this context, the industry needs to shift from mass production to sustainable development and improve product quality.
With global pepper output forecast to continue to decline in 2025, Vietnam is facing a great opportunity to consolidate its export position. The advantages in quality, reputation and clean pepper production capacity will be the foundation for the industry to develop. Currently, many large enterprises have begun to invest in processing factories, building organic raw material areas, creating a solid foundation for a sustainable pepper value chain in the future.
