Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Association (IPC), at the end of the most recent trading session, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 6,832 USD/ton, and the price of Muntok white pepper at 9,033 USD/ton.
The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper is at USD 6,350/ton. The price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is at USD 8,200/ton; the price of this country's ASTA white pepper is at USD 10,400/ton.
The price of Vietnamese black pepper today suddenly increased sharply, trading at 6,400 USD/ton (up 1.56%) for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,700 USD/ton (up 1.49%); the price of white pepper at 9,600 USD/ton (up 2.08%).
According to a report by Ptexim, last week, Vietnam’s pepper export prices remained stable. Demand has recovered in many markets, including the US, EU and Asia, especially the Chinese market.
Vietnam’s black pepper production in the 2025 crop is expected to decline due to the impact of drought and competition from other crops such as durian and coffee. This could reduce pepper supply, leading to prices remaining high in the near term. Freight rates from Asia to Europe began to rise last week, with daily rates to the Mediterranean reaching nearly $6,000 per FEU — up $1,000 per FEU since late November.
