Last week, the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association announced the pepper export situation in the first half of August 2024. To date, the amount of pepper exported has reached 175,000 tons, surpassing this year's output target of 170,000 tons.
Total export value is currently at 820 million USD. With more than 4 months left to export, Vietnam's pepper industry is likely to reach its revenue target of 1 billion USD this year.
Although it was predicted that global supply shortages would increase pepper prices, high pepper prices have actually reduced global demand for the spice.
In a difficult economic climate, consumers tend to eliminate non-essential products from their daily shopping lists, including pepper.
