Pepper prices are expected to continue to increase on September 4, 2024. The latest report shows that pepper export prices in the first 8 months of 2024 were 4,810 USD/ton, 47% higher than the previous year.

The increase in export prices of pepper has pushed up domestic pepper prices. Since the beginning of 2024, domestic pepper prices have remained high and reached VND190,000/kg in early June, the highest level in 11 years.

Although the price has decreased compared to June, today, pepper price is at 150,000 VND/kg, 1.8 times higher than at the beginning of the year and double compared to the same period last year.

World pepper price today

Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Community (IPC), at the end of the most recent trading session, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 7,498 USD/ton (down 0.41%), and the price of Muntok white pepper at 8,829 USD/ton (down 0.40%).

The price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper was at USD 7,000/ton (up 8.53%). The price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper remained stable at USD 8,500/ton; the price of this country's ASTA white pepper reached USD 10,400/ton.

Vietnam's black pepper prices are stable at a high level, trading at 6,100 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 6,200 USD/ton for 550 g/l; and 8,800 USD/ton for white pepper.

A recent report from the Import-Export Department said that world pepper prices may be high in the near future.

Brazil, the second largest producer and exporter of black pepper after Vietnam, accounts for about 17-18% of global supply. Due to the continuous crop failure in Brazil, the global pepper market may witness rising prices in the final months of 2024.

Reduced supply from other major pepper producing countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia will also contribute to the price increase.
