Nghe An shrimp farming value reaches 1,650 billion VND
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An's shrimp farming area in 2022 reached 2,260.5 hectares, the harvested commercial shrimp output reached 9,207 tons, the estimated value reached 1,650 billion VND, equal to 138% compared to 2021.
On the morning of March 10, in Quynh Luu district, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to deploy the 2023 shrimp farming crop. Attending the conference were representatives of the departments of: Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, districts, cities, towns, coastal communes and wards and a number of typical commercial shrimp farming organizations and individuals.

In 2022, aquaculture in general and shrimp farming in particular willNghe AnProduction in the context of complicated weather and disease developments, high input material prices, and lack of capital among people has affected seed production as well as commercial shrimp farming.
However, with the attention from the Central to the local level, as well as the local government and the creativity and proactive application of high technology by individuals/organizations; the consumption market is quite favorable, the selling price has increased, so commercial shrimp farming in 2022 has achieved remarkable results.

Acreageshrimp farmingThe whole province in 2022 reached 2,260.5 hectares, equal to 104.24% compared to 2021. The harvested commercial shrimp output reached 9,207 tons, equal to 108.28% compared to the same period in 2021. The production and rearing of shrimp larvae reached 2,555 million, equal to 103.99% compared to 2021. The value of shrimp farming production reached 1,650 billion VND, equal to 138% compared to 2021.
However, the disease situation in farmed shrimp in 2022 increased compared to the same period in 2021. The total diseased area is 116.83 hectares, 4.9 times higher than in 2021. Of which, white spot disease is 62.63 hectares; acute hepatopancreatic necrosis is 45.03 hectares; shrimp died of unknown causes is 9.17 hectares.
According to recommendations from professional agencies, in 2023, the shrimp disease situation will have many complicated developments, due to the impact of water environment, climate... Therefore, local authorities and shrimp farmers need to regularly pay attention to disease prevention for farmed shrimp.

At the conference, some organizations and individuals raising commercial shrimp in Quynh Luu, Dien Chau... said that currently, most shrimp farming households in the province are still fragmented in terms of pond area; the water pollution situation is still complicated, the cause is that farming households discharge wastewater directly into the environment. Meanwhile, the water supply canal system is degraded.
Shrimp farmers propose that the State needs to dredge and upgrade the main rivers in shrimp farming areas to reduce water pollution. Currently, input sources for shrimp farming are increasing, so the authorities need to regularly check and control the quality of input materials and seeds to avoid risks for shrimp farmers.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Xuan Hoc requested agencies and localities to continue to overcome difficulties to have a successful year of shrimp farming. Specialized agencies should perform well the environmental monitoring work to promptly notify farmers; manage the quality of shrimp seeds well; promptly and regularly share information on origin and quality to help shrimp farmers have high-quality seeds for production.

At the same time, strengthen inspection and examination of facilities producing breeds, aquatic feed, and environmental treatment products used in aquaculture. In addition, organize shrimp farming production in the direction of applying technology, high technology, using biological products, and effective circulating farming to help farmers reduce losses... to produce safely, reduce costs and ensure product output.

By 2023, Nghe An's shrimp farming area will reach 2,200 hectares; aquaculture output will be 10,000 tons; shrimp seed production and rearing will be 2,400 million. The farming target is white-leg shrimp; the main farming method is intensive farming, applied and expanded.high-tech modelin intensive and super intensive shrimp farming.
