World gold prices increased this morning even though the USD remained stable and US bond interest rates continued to rise. The reason is that some investors increased their purchases and stored gold for next year, predicting that central banks will continue to buy gold to diversify assets away from the USD. This will support gold prices to increase in 2025.
Analysts predict that global central bank gold demand will exceed the five-year average of 500 tonnes by 2025.
RJO Futures senior market strategist Daniel Pavilonis predicts gold prices could surpass $3,000 an ounce next year as central bank demand continues.
Next year will be volatile for the gold market, with the first half of the year likely to be positive as geopolitical tensions rise, before profit-taking is likely to kick in later in the year, said Ajay Kedia, director at Kedia Commodities.
