Gold price this afternoon January 8, 2025: World gold price increased slightly compared to this morning, surpassing the 2450 USD mark. Domestic gold price fluctuated with the highest increase of half a million VND per tael in both buying and selling directions.

Domestic gold price on the afternoon of January 8, 2025

As of 2:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025, domestic gold price increased slightly by VND 200,000/tael compared to the previous trading session.

At Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), the price of gold bars is listed at VND84 million/tael (buy) and VND85.5 million/tael (sell). Compared to the previous session, the price increased by VND200,000/tael in both directions. The difference between the buying and selling prices is currently at VND1.5 million/tael.

DOJI system listed 9999 gold at buying price of 84 million VND/tael and selling price of 85.5 million VND/tael. This price increased by 200 thousand VND/tael in both buying and selling directions compared to yesterday.

At Mi Hong Jewelry Company, the buying price of SJC gold is 84.9 million VND/tael and the selling price is 85.5 million VND/tael. Thus, compared to the previous session, the buying price increased by 600 thousand VND/tael and the selling price increased by 500 thousand VND/tael.

Bao Tin Minh Chau Co., Ltd. and Bao Tin Manh Hai Co., Ltd. both listed SJC gold prices at VND84.2 million/tael (buy) and VND85.5 million/tael (sell). These two units increased by VND500,000/tael in both directions compared to the closing price of yesterday's trading session.

The current buying price of SJC 9999 gold rings is 84 million VND/tael and the selling price is 85.3 million VND/tael. Compared to the previous trading session, the price increased by 200 thousand VND/tael in both directions.

For Hung Thinh Vuong 9999 gold ring (DOJI), the buying price decreased to 84.5 million VND/tael and the selling price decreased to 85.7 million VND/tael, an increase of 100 thousand VND per tael for buying and 300 thousand VND per tael for selling compared to yesterday.

PNJ plain gold rings were bought at VND84.5 million/tael and sold at VND85.5 million/tael. The recorded increase was VND100,000/tael for buying and VND200,000/tael for selling.

World gold price 1/8/2025

This afternoon, the world gold price was adjusted up. At 2:35 p.m. today (January 8, Vietnam time), the world spot gold price was at 2,651.8 USD/ounce, up 4.7 USD/ounce compared to early this morning.

Earlier, gold prices hit a two-day high of $2,664 an ounce after the People's Bank of China increased its gold reserves by 300,000 ounces for the second consecutive month, bringing the total to 73.3 million ounces. This is the second consecutive month that China has added gold after a six-month pause.

In the foreign exchange market, the State Bank of Vietnam announced the central exchange rate of VND to USD, applied for January 8, as 1 USD = 24,330 VND, down 2 VND compared to January 7. The State Bank of Vietnam listed the USD buying price at 23,400 VND/USD and the USD selling price at 25,450 VND/USD.

Meanwhile, the USD buying price at some commercial banks was adjusted up - down with a common amplitude of 2-30 VND compared to the previous session. On the selling side, the USD selling price was listed by most banks at 25,546 VND/USD (2 VND lower).

According to News.az, gold prices have increased by about 30% in 2024 and the upward trend will continue in 2025 as the precious metal will continue to be considered by investors as a "safe haven" in times of economic and political instability.

Elman Mekhtiyev, founder of the Kredcheck service, noted that central banks will continue to increase their gold reserves in the face of growing risks to their countries, especially the possible destabilization of foreign exchange reserves due to the development of cryptocurrencies.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Puchkarev, a stock market expert at BCS World of Investments, predicts that gold prices will rise by 2025 to $2,600-$2,900 an ounce.
