Oil prices today September 9, 2024: World oil prices increased at the beginning of the new week, with Brent and WTI both increasing by about 60 cents.
World oil prices
Oil prices started the new week slightly higher, with Brent and WTI both up around 60 cents.
Oil markets will be paying attention to the US inflation report, the ECB interest rate decision, and other economic data this week.
Last week, oil prices increased only in the first trading session and decreased in the remaining four sessions.
Factors such as the OPEC+ decision and the decline in US oil inventories could not prevent oil prices from falling due to supply from Libya and the economic situation in China.
US jobs data for August showed slower-than-expected job growth, which could influence the Fed's decision to cut interest rates.

Typhoon Yagi caused power outages in many places, including Ha Long City, Quang Ninh. The power outage caused people to rush to buy gasoline to use generators.
A gas station in Ha Long City is still open for business despite a partially damaged roof, attracting a large number of people to buy gas. Because many other gas stations were affected by the storm and have not been repaired in time, people are gathering in large numbers at the places that are still open.
Widespread power outages and high demand for generators have forced people to buy gasoline. The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that many gasoline businesses were severely damaged by Typhoon Yagi. Power and internet outages have also made it difficult to make payments and issue electronic invoices.
Demand for gasoline skyrocketed, many people rented trucks to carry large tanks to buy oil, leading to long lines and prolonged waiting.
