5th Phoenix Trung Do - Vinh Cycling Race

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 19th, the 5th Phuong Hoang Trung Do Cycling Race - Nghe An Television Cup 2014 officially kicked off with the participation of 30 cycling clubs nationwide.

The clubs competed in two categories: an advanced race for athletes aged 49 and under, covering a distance of 45km, and an amateur race for athletes over 50, covering a distance of 30km. The race route circled Ho Chi Minh Square and the central park of Vinh City, passing through Truong Thi, Ho Tung Mau, Le Mao, and Tran Phu streets.

Prior to the opening ceremony, 10 laps of 30km races were held for cyclists over 50 years old participating in the amateur category. Cyclist Bui Van Quang from Le Loi Cycling Club, Thanh Hoa City, excellently won the championship in the amateur category. Hue Tourism Sports Club won first place in the team category in this event.

In the advanced category for cyclists aged 35 to 49, the 45km race featured many strong cycling clubs, notably including Japanese athletes competing for the Bridgestone Cycling Club. This team has consistently participated in the tournament over the years. Cyclist Hoang Minh Tuan from the Thanh Hoa Green Environment Company Cycling Club finished first in this category. As predicted by experts, the Bridgestone Club won first place in the team category of the advanced race. The Hue City Cycling Club came in second, and the Vinh City Cycling Club took third place.

The people of Vinh City cheered on the athletes throughout the races, creating a beautiful image of the people of Nghe An province. The Vinh City Police mobilized traffic police, public order police, and ward police to manage routes and ensure traffic safety and security for the race. Favorable weather conditions helped the athletes compete with the highest spirit. The goal of unity, sportsmanship, and linking clubs and racing enthusiasts to promote the development of the sport was maximized throughout the tournament.
