Cycling race 'Back to Truong Son-2017': Accelerating in the final stage

(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2017), the Army Newspaper coordinated with units and localities to organize the 2017 Truong Son Cycling Race, People's Army Newspaper Cup.

The tournament had 70 cyclists from 12 teams, including 2 teams from Laos and Thailand. After the first 2 stages, cyclist Nguyen Tan Hoai (Domesco Dong Thap Pharmaceutical team) finished first. However, in terms of overall team performance, An Giang Plant Protection team maintained the top position after stage 2 with 13 hours 41 minutes 39 seconds.

On the morning of July 17, the athletes continued the third stage (Thanh Hoa - Ha Tinh stage) with a total length of nearly 190 km. When about 50 km from the finish line (through Vinh City), the athletes began to accelerate to separate from the top to gain an advantage for the remaining distance. As a result, the race was divided into 3 groups, in which the first group was 1 km and 1.5 km away from the second and third groups, respectively.

The race is an activity with profound traditional educational significance, towards the sacred Truong Son.demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", remembering and showing gratitude for the great sacrifices and contributions of generations of fathers and brothers in the struggle for national liberation, national unification, building and defending the Fatherland.
