A photo of Michelle Obama at President Trump's inauguration on January 20 shows that she seemed to have an unpleasant look at the new president and First Lady Melania Trump.
However, Mrs. Michelle dismissed this speculation in a speech on April 27, her first public speech since leaving the White House. She said that it was when she had to hold back tears before the moment of transition.
“(At that time) I didn't want to cry because other people would think I was crying because of the new president,” Mrs. Michelle said at a conference of the American Institute of Architects in Orlando on April 27.
The former First Lady of the United States shared that the moment of saying goodbye to the White House was very emotional for her. “Everything comes and goes very quickly. I have lived in the White House longer than any house I have ever lived in, except my childhood home. From seeing people every day, listening to their lives, giving them warm hugs, chatting and joking with them, suddenly not being able to see them anymore. They become part of a new family,” Mrs. Michelle shared with tears in her eyes.
She also recalled her family's last moments in the White House. "It was a moment of transition, right before the doors opened, we welcomed the first family, our children left the White House through the back door in tears, saying goodbye to everyone."
In addition to sharing her feelings about leaving the White House, Mrs. Michelle Obama also said that she has no intention of running for president. “I will not ask my children if I will run for president because when you decide to run for president, the issue is not just you, it is your whole family. Moreover, I have too much to do outside the White House.”
