RIA Novosti on November 18 quoted a source from the US Defense and Security Cooperation Agency as saying that the agreement includes providing weapons for the aircraft, technical support, training and a number of other proposals. However, the time of aircraft delivery was not specified.
“The agreement strengthens the foreign policy and national security of the United States, increases the security of a friendly nation, and strengthens strategic relationships.
The transfer of F-15 aircraft will increase Qatar's ability to counter current and future enemies on the ground and in the air.
Qatar will use its military potential as a deterrent to minimize threats in the region and strengthen its defense power,” the source said.
The F-15 fighter jet was developed in the 1970s and was designed to gain air superiority in dogfights.
To date, the F-15 has appeared in many versions to suit the requirements of the air forces of Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Israel and several other countries.
The features and specifications of the F-15 aircraft designed for Qatar have not been disclosed yet.
