(Baonghean) - The severe drought that lasted for several months significantly affected agricultural production; faced with these difficulties, the Anh Son Agricultural Extension Station connected with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the National Agricultural Extension Center to find solutions to remedy tea gardens damaged by drought in the area, and initial results have been positive (in the context of many households in the Bai Phu tea growing area destroying their tea gardens affected by the drought).

First, tea growers need to understand that tea plantations with living stems and green leaves should not be destroyed, because the root system is still alive, and with good care, the tea plantation will return to normal growth. Regarding solutions for rehabilitating tea plantations, the following should be done: For tea plantations where the upper 1/3 of the stem is dry (with 2/3 of the stem and lower leaves still green), use biotechnology to support the process: Use high-quality American foliar fertilizers (this type of biological product has just been imported to Vietnam and is approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for use on all crops) ACEGROW and Calcium-XQ; Dosage: ACEGROW 35 ml; Calcium-XQ 16 ml; mix with 20 liters of water by shaking and stirring well before spraying.

Regarding the spraying process: leave the burnt tea plantation as is, and spray concentratedly on the leaves that are still green; then spray again after 7-10 days. Approximately 30 days after the second spraying, prune the tea plants below the green leaves by about 2cm (this is a form of severe pruning to rejuvenate the plantation); 2-3 days after pruning, spray with high-quality foliar fertilizer at the dosage mentioned above, and then spray again after 7-10 days. Strictly following these instructions will greatly increase the chances of the tea plantation recovering. This is also a solution to mitigate the effects of drought on sugarcane crops at this time.
